I was looking at purchasing either a single more powerful LED light or getting a few less powerful LED lights. I think i have my mind made up on the 2 "old style" MarsHydro 300w.

Im going to be replacing my 600W HPS/MH with it and was wondering if it will give comparable results with the 2 LEDs. I have a 4x4 space that im going to light up and I will not be using all of the floor space. Probably going to put 2-3 small plants under each, possibly less. Looking to spends around 150-250$ on the set up. Ive found the Mars store on ebay and can get the 2 300s for 152$ish shipped. Ive read lots of feedback on the forum about them and everyone says they are good lights. Just wondering if maybe a different Light would out perform the 2 for a similar or slightly higher price. Thanks guys!!

fat,

I too just purchased 1 Mars Hydro 300w old style off of eBay. It was $20 less than what Sara from Mars gave me a quote for the same unit here on the forums. It looks like the only difference is the eBay purchase only has a 1 year warranty while straight from the Mars website it would have a 3 year warranty. Don't really understand that but whatever I guess. Mine is just replacing CFL's. I would think for you that 2 units would be a better option over a larger single unit as it would allow you to adjust the height of the lights in case you had a couple of shorter/taller plants.

Thanks so far guys. It says that they will cover 2'x2' each in veg. Which sould cover roughly 4ish plants. Wouldnt be too bad i guess but I was wondering if it would actually cover more than that? I realize that 2 wont cover a 4x4 but maybe a 3x3 section? I might get the 2 and see how they do and use my HPS/MH (on 50% I dont want to though) for supplemental lighting. Or grab another 1 more if i want to add some more to it. Just wondering mosty what each one would cover as far as plants/space.Thanks!

Well i went ahead and pulled the trigger before i could change my mind. There is a lot of good info on here about them and hope I get similar results.

You could Easily rock two in a 3x3 and grow 4 Really nice sized Autos.

Also can get away using in a 4x4 with say 5 plants

Yeah my first grow was 3 in a 4x2 with a 400W. It was a pretty good grow. I recently did 7 in a 4x3 with the 600 but it was cramped. LOL. Still managed a pretty good yeild. But im going to do some breeding and want to get a seed stock pile.
