Outdoor 2013 Auto Outdoor Project

It's 2013, already march and I kinda made up my mind about my little gardening project.

I plan to do an all-auto grow in my most secure place, do some basic drip irrigation and maybe a mini greenhouse for the first weeks of growing.


The setup is 4 superautos by *stitch*(2x chaze, 2x Annapurna), 2-3 White Sirius and got some space for 2-3 another autos, which are still undefined.
I'm asking for some help with strain selection, I'd very much like to grow something closely related to JackHerrer...that kind of smoke(lemony, spicy, incense, sweet and long lasting buzz).

The candidates are:

Sweet seeds Jack47
Sweet seeds BigDevil XL
DP ThinkDifferent, AutoXtreme
Paradise seeds AutoJack
...other? (the non-Jack options would be something RED from Sweet seeds, maybe GHS Mango... the mentioned DP strains fascinate me with yield)


I want a good growing plant with solid yield(not 20g, more like 50+g outdoors), height should be no real problem(easily 1,2m).




And another question about transplanting... are peat pots the thing to use for transplanting(actually planting) autoflowering plants? I think it's the less stressful method to do it.

Yeah dude the peat pots rock !!!
I use them while the plants are in the propagator until they become too soggy, the roots are coming through by week 2 anyway, then i put the whole thing into a tall rose pot (i dont have much room !) or if room permitting a decent bucket. This year im trying some with carrier bags lining the pots so i can just pull them out ? Willl let you know how much growth stunting that does !

I find peat pots to be terrible for growing cannabis and other plants at that. I ALWAYS get stunting from them and find the roots do not go through the sides. Every grow I have done/seen with them has been stunted. Stick with regular pots. If you have feminized seeds start those in their final pot, bigger yield and no transplant stunting.

Hmmm...not a good thing to hear, but better now than too late

Thing is I'm growing directly in soil, no pots or bags, so I will have to transplant once. Another possibility would be to plant the seedling directly in soil(covered by mini greenhouse), but I'd have absolutely no control on them, since not growing at home or near.
The plan is to get some CFLs for the first week and then just putting them in the sun(optional greenhouse). That requires some preparation so I have to decide quite soon about the most suitable method of making the best out of them.

Any suggestion, information or comment of relevance...here's the place to do it *what about strain selection(mentioned in my previous post)?

I think humidity is a major factor in softness of pea pots...but i will probably avoid them because I want the roots to grow totally undisturbed by anything and grow the most they can.

Last year I made a big mistake with too small holes in too hard soil, so the girls grew high with not so much branches. This year I want a jungle))

I have tried several brands and none of them worked with any species of plant I grew in them. I have heard of people getting good results with them, but not very often. For all the trouble I'd prefer to start in a 32 oz yogurt container with holes cut in the bottom. Just the right amount of root space for cannabis starts.

If you can, start your Autos indoors under lights until they sex, then harden them off by setting them out for a few more hours over a few days. Transplant them after that and they will do much better than if you start them in the ground. You can do this with shop lights from home depot instead of expensive grow lights. I use these for garden starts and they've got enough juice to do your starts, I'd use two units.

Hey guys, I just found out many permaculture freaks(in a good way use bio-charcoal in their soil mix, supposedly carbon stores nutrients for slower release, so the rains don't flush the nutrients away. Carbon is also said to provide more living space for beneficial microorganisms in soil(charcoal has a high surface/is highly porous).
The downside is higher pH levels in soil if used too much(more than 1kg/sqm - by some sources). You add it once or twice in the soil, it should stay there for millenia

Seen some pics of tests on salads and other sprouts and the difference seems to be quite huge.

Hi muddy I love this idea I use thirty two ounce cups for pepper and tomato plants n the spring and this would work pisser for that and the top would act as cutworm collars.
