Hello, and welcome to my thread.

I am a little early on starting this thread for one reason, My beans are still a couple days away but hey...blame it on me being a anxious newbie =)

After about 6 months of planning, research of strains, the jitters and what not, I decided think different is probably gods little way of saying he loves me.So i ordered a 3 pack and they came with a free critical auto, which i know nothing about. Will be using a 600 w hps, some compost mix i have outside next to my veggie/fruit garden, cheap 3 gal plastic pots i found 10 for 2 bucks, and a strong passion to open this new chapter in my life. I imagine when i am not sleeping, i will be laying on my belly on the floor just starting at my babies for hours n hours.

My grow area will be a 4x4 space i built out of cardboard with aluminum foil on the inside. Real professional right. Please! Feel free to drop by and show some love, your advice is much appreciated.

Hey growbeast and welcome to AFN! From one newb to another i can guarentee you'll be staring at them every 5 minutes like i do :) and hopefully you will find everything you need here, the members and admin are diamond! Your setup sounds abit larger then mine but i am pushed for space.Enjoy your stay an enjoy your grow :)

Hi there hers some good advice

i would seriously reconsider the cardboard boxes, think about the heat. think fire.

I would not use cardboard with aluminum foil its going to get hot in there with a 600w light its a fire risk if you ask me

I would make it out of wood with
Mylar reflective sheeting sheet film roll to be on the safe side

sorry man for bursting you bubble but its a real fire risk and last thing we want is for you to have a house fire

using cardboard and when it gets wet it can let mold breed as well:karma Cloud:

Dam it!!! Effed up already and don't even have the beans yet:clap: so i do have the option of using some closet space, give or take its about 2ft deep, 5ft wide, what's your thoughts? And thank you for the welcome blue

Hey newbud, i am you 420th like...:Holy Moly: what are the odds

I'm currently growing 6 photos and 7 autos in a 2.5ft deep by 6ft wide closet with few problems. 4 autos in that space should be fine. Just be careful not to snap branches when watering.

What photos are you growing...i have this idea that on one of my next grows i could veg photos during the whole autos grow, then switch to flower after the autos are done. With all that veg time i imagine huge trees?

I'm growing Black Russians and a strain of my own called EAK. Vegging photos while also growing autos is a good idea if you have the space. You might have to top the photos so you don't have to raise the light too far above the autos. You can even grow autos while flowering like I'm doing now. They just won't yield as much. There is a link to my closet grow in my Sig if you wanna check it out.

I too have some black Russian and it seems to be a great strain so far. I would be careful about vegging them that long. I vegged the 3 I have outdoors that are 9 feet tall indoor with my autos and even with topping and tying they were 5 feet tall when my TD finished. I would start half way through imo and you will have some good size ladies by the end. Think different will sometimes go up to 105 days and that's a lot of veg time for growing in a small area.
But anyways I cant wait to see you get started bud you will have all kinds of help a long the way. Lots of great knowledgeable people here at AFN. Good luck and lots of green karma heading your way.............

No to the card board! Totally rule that out.
wardrobe is a good space a 400W Hps would be better for that size 600w might get a bit warm.
You will need a inline fane and carbon filter cheap kit containing fan, filter & ducting can be picked up fairly cheaply on the interweb .
Avoid using foil for theses reasons -

  • foil tears easily
  • it crinkles and will cause hot spots especially when using HID but also applies to otherlights
  • It conducts electricity ie you get a lose wire or short and touch the foil bzzzt pop zap.
Thing to use instaed of foil -

  • Paint inside of wardrobe with flat white paint
  • use balck and white plastic
  • Use Diamond mylar, I prefer this to normal mylar as it doesnt cause hot spots
Making mistakes is all part of the learning processe, all the growers here have made mistake in thier time of growing, if they say they haven't , either they are lying or they are God.

Every grow is a chance to do better than before, just that fact you starting to grow is the biggest step forward you can take, once you start you'll never look back.

I wish you all the best with your grow and rest assured there always someone here to lend a hand, it aint called a family for nothing.

Peace

Growerz
