Grow Mediums 385W CFL 'Think Different' DWC cab grow

Yeah you should get a bit harder nuggets with the bigger light. These units (600w) have become quite inexspensive these days. Perhaps they are feeling the pressure from the LED industry. So far everyone believes (pretty much) that the HPS will outdo the LED. But people are going with the LED for power consumption reasons. Less pull on electricity, less heat, and less money it costs to grow, and the yeilds are catching uip. But HPS is still king.

Wont be long now and you will be dealing with sticky fingers. Have you decided what is next? It's about time to start thinking on that.

I am gonna have to give you reps, Cuz you stuff looks Awesome!

Thanks Eek :) I would have loved to get an LED but for a few reasons I think i'll give it a year or two and let the prices drop a bit more, this full HPS kit was only £60 (about $90) inc postage. I kind of need the heat of the HPS anyways, night time temps drop to around 5-10 degrees celcius so having lights on at night time should sort that out, still think I may be looking at purple buds. Is there a minimum temperature I dont want the resevoir go below? it sometimes drops to 10-11C although roots look healthy

As for my next plant, im still not sure. From what i've seen from this TD im pretty sure i'd like to stick to autos for now. Does anyone know any good indica dominant autos they can recommend?

Thanks for the rep :dance2:

HPS finally arrived! Decided to all together remove the 200W CFL and I think i'll use that as a veg bulb in an previous smaller box i built, get my next DWC auto on the way!

Had to pretty much double my fan extractor speed, and added a desk fan blowing at the light and top of the plant due to the heat.. still think i'm going to have to add an intake fan now or something because i dont really like having my fans blowing on max, and the added heat has dropped the humidity by a good 15-20%

PPM is roughly at 950 but im letter her gradually increase herself as she goes along, still no signs of nute burn. Planning on switching to full bloom nutes tonight.

Cheers all! :toke:

Think plants may have minor signs of heat stress on some fan leaves, but nothing too out of control.

Peace!

Bambud, this thing looks awesome man!! Definitely taggin along keeping tabs on this one. Being your first DWC are you running into many problems? I'm planning on doing my first in the next few months. Till then I am admiring the fine works of yourself and others. Definitely going to have to try Think Different after seeing a couple grows its the type of plant I want. Bushy chocked full of big ol danky buds! Good job again man, looks tasty!

Thanks man :) Truthfully i've actually not come across that many problems! However there are one or two of things I would have done differenly if I were to start this all again.

For one I dont think I would have used the large rockwool cube after the roots showing in the smaller one, this just delayed the roots hitting the water by some days, and I dont think it really adds that much support to the plant. Also make sure to have a second or even thrid bucket free so you can put ur plant in it when washing the pot/changing nute solutions, and also to have one always full to be able to refill the pot as the plant drinks.

Growing this one along side the badseed I had going in soil really showed me how cannabis loves hydro, especially autos. After coming back from visiting my girlfriend for the weekend or so, the soil plant would be wilted whereas the hydro one would have grown a crap load and looking super healthy (minus very small rust marks from PH varying). There is deffinitly more that can go wrong, and more you have to think about with hydro... but if you love your weed as much as I love mine, that wont be the problem, and you will most deffinitly be rewarded!

If you're looking for a good nutrient solution, i'm only using General Hydroponic's 3 part Grow, Micro, and Bloom solutions, and so far they have treated my plant very well :). As for the Think Different, I credit the Dutch Passion for much of my success! Flawless genetics! :joint:

Good luck man!

Thanks man. I'm sure once I get it up and running I'll be picking your brain along with others on here. Thats why I love this site. Its all about everyone helping everyone to better their ladies! Excited about seeing how yours finishes out. Good luck man!

Nice going. You are doing a great job. And you will really see the difference now that you have the new bulb. CFL´s are fantastic, but HPS is much better.

Good luck! :)

Now on week 9 from seed (day 63). Starting to fill in nicely, still think it has a good month or so left of swelling to go though!

PPM is now at around 1000 and have changed to Lucas formula. I try to keep PH between 5.7-6.2 or so, but she's drinking so much it's quite hard to keep on top of her sometimes!

Anyways few more pics:
