New Grower 3rd grow: samsaura thunder bloody mary

View attachment 133669View attachment 133668View attachment 133667It looks like things are going well except the color seems a lighter green than might be expected. I have only watered so far and they are just over 2 weeks out of the ground. The 3 bloody marys are 3in and putting out a second set of leaves, Samsara said they would start to flower after about 12 days. I will start looking for signs that they are all girls. I put the older creamatic on the brick to try and keep node spacing.

subbed up for this grow.

cant wait to see some led action.

goodluck on the ladies.

What soil are you using for this grow?

It looks like things are going well except the color seems a lighter green than might be expected. I have only watered so far and they are just over 2 weeks out of the ground. The 3 bloody marys are 3in and putting out a second set of leaves, Samsara said they would start to flower after about 12 days. I will start looking for signs that they are all girls. I wanted to avoid any nute burn like in the last two grows so I am doing something I will more than likely regret. I am using promix ultimate, about 2/3lb black earthworm castings per 3gal pot, some root stimulant, and some coco fiber. The coco fiber will help keep the soil open and retain moisture. The worm castings is 1-1-1 so maybe I can go till bloom without adding anything. So far while not a failure I will not be doing this again. The coco fiber seems to be making a bog and the worm castings will never be enough. My friend Eschatos advised that I give the idea some more thought, didn't happen. I used 8 seeds to get 5 plants and will continue to stumble along. The coco is about 6ph and should give me a real problem before long. The retain moisture part works too well, another dumb idea. The plants seem to be doing alright in spite of my great ideas. I only watered 1000ml per pot 5 days ago and that seems like too much.

I use Pro Mix and have also used worm castings in the past. Not sure what 2/3 of a lb. works out to in volume but normally the ratio should be about 5 parts Pro Mix to 1 part castings. Rather than using coco, some additional perlite to compensate for the castings should be sufficient. In straight Pro Mix the starter nutes are often exhausted in less than 2 weeks and some additional nutes are then required. However, the castings, even at a low volume, should provide enough N for the time being.

View attachment 134863 100_0502.jpgThe plants are looking like they need water but the soil feels wet. Since I didn't add lime when I added worm castings and coco I will add 1/4 teas. of lime and water the plants with 1000ml. The leaves felt dry and stiff, it has been several days since I watered.

If your soil is still damp, don't give them anymore water yet. When the roots are wet all the time it can cut off oxygen to the roots. Weed like wet/dry cycles to grow properly.

1/4 teaspoon of lime won't be near enough. What size are your pots and what kind of lime do you have?

View attachment 135050View attachment 135049100_0505.jpgThe pot size is 3gal and the lime is dolomatic(sp) granular. I should have said that the surface of the soil felt wet, I got my finger deeper and it was almost dry. When I mixed the soil I top dressed lightly with castings and never mixed into the top layer of soil. The plants appear less down this morning, please excuse the pics I left the led on.

Best way to know when to water is by the weight of your pots. Get a feel for them when they are almost completely dry and only water again when they feel that way. Three gallon pots, under LED light, may take as long as 5-6 days to dry out with plants the size of yours. As the plants get bigger and use more water, the frequency of watering will drop and they will likely require water every 3-4 days.
