Just wanted to start a thread to share what I've learned about Mephisto in the last six months by watching my buddy run his grow. The context is an elite long time photo period grower is observing an elite auto flower grow.
So four runs and I've seen 28 mephisto girls and 5 non-mephisto auto flowers.
Non- Mephisto: The breeders that were selected were Big Head and Blim Burn. All 5 of the non-mephisto were converted to discard. That is not an exaggeration. Not one flower was kept for flower consumption.
Mephisto: Of the 28 girls,
Exquisite (frost covered, strong, smells good and has some flavor): 15 girls. I'm not being paid by mephisto or anything like that. I've just been blown away by what I've seen. Double Grape was comparable to most any clone only photo period girl I've seen. Others that were spectacular were Ripley's, AvT, Hubbabubbasmelloscope, Samsquanch, Skywalker and Sky Stomper.
Excellent (most of the above but maybe not visible frost): This one I'll estimate to be about 7.
Good Passable: 3 (Fantasmo, Northern Cheese Haze)
Complete Loss: 3 (SODK, Tyrone Special, Sour Stomper)
Some things I learned from observation, I've seen plants that looked super sad and super sick with extreme deficiencies produce beautiful flowers. For example there was a Samsquanch that was super bright yellow most of it's life and by the end it was mostly green ish and the buds were fantastic.
I've seen two Sky Stompers and they each went 14.5 oz of frost covered amazing buds. So 29 total. I've seen two Ripley's go approximately 12 each. Even in the worst case scenario I've not seen a Mephisto lady go less than 5 oz out of the 28 total girls except Tyrone Special.
Germination rates: Well in the beginning while my buddy was figuring this all out there was a high seed loss. Like 50%. Once he incorporated humidity domes there has been a 100% germination rate. So the last 20 popped seeds had 100% germination rate.
That is pretty damn amazing. My hat is off to Mephisto. Congrats guys for owning it. @mephisto
