Tea Brewing!!!

Here in a day or so when we see the first actual sign of plant life poking its head above the rock wool cubes we need to be ready for the "rooting stage" of the plants early life cycle. Even though I was a contractor for many years, I have also done my fair share of studying in the area of botany. Yes, we know this is a hydro grow with a recirculating drip system. Yes, we are using Ancient forest soil amendment. It doesn't matter when it comes to using teas. Hydro or soil, my thought is use them. Micro bacteria and fungi are an essential part of the plants growth, so start early. There is over 35,000 species of bacteria and 5,000 species of fungus in the ancient forest. 2 gallons of water goes in a clean bucket, always a clean bucket. In a clean stocking put 2 large cups of the ancient forest mix, one large tablespoon of ZHO (for rooting inoculate), mixed with a few drops of super thrive...and you have a very nice tea to start these little girls on there way to greatness. Try it yourself and you'll love it too. We will let this brew for at least 24 hours (it will turn a dark brown color due to the Ancient Forest), but better if closer to 2 full days and then hand feed the majority of it. The rest will be added to the resivior. Make sure to change your res within a week of adding the tea mixture. Also in the next day or so ZHO will be added to the rock wool cubes themselves and Dyna Gro K-L-N will be added to the res at 5ml/gal of water. So for our 25 gallons of water, 75ml of K-L-N will be added...I will update then. I told you I would give away some of my secrets, and everything I post, I actually do, have done in the past, and will continue to do...because it works.

Sooo jealous......I'm at work and your posting pics of ur awesome setup. sometimes life just doesnt seem fair. Lol. Great stuff tho!! Can't wait to see this thing filled in!! and 1200w is awesome. not enough energy use to raise an eyebrow but still powerful enough to give a kickass harvest!! I used to run 3 x 1000w hps but I wasnt organized enough to make it work for me. bit off more than I could chew the first time. now i'm usig anice little micro grow, but will be making the jump to 2-4 x 600w in the future. Fuckin awesome buddy! Cannot wait!!!!!!!!!!

I agree 100% about the tea. Bacterial life is the ONLY advantage of soil over hydro, and its not hard at all to incorporate into hydro.
Heisenberg tea saved my crop from a Pythium outbreak, but the benefits to the plant by regularly using the teas are incredible, and indisputable.

AACT s are the elixer of the gods when it comes to a healthy rhizosphere and strong plants.

The end of day 4

Hello again AFN family, back with more of the tutorial. After I let the tea brew for 36 hours this is what you should have IMG_0151.jpg

KLN is added to the res at 5ml/gallon IMG_0160.jpg
1/4 teaspoon of ZHO is sprinkled on top of the rock wool, around the newly sprouted ladies (all 7 are up!)IMG_0157.jpgIMG_0153.jpgIMG_0152.jpg
Hand feed about 2 cups of the tea on each (pic is after the feeding)IMG_0156.jpg
The rest of the tea is added to the res along with the KLN. My ro water has a ppm of 7, now the ppm's should be around 150 or soIMG_0162.jpg
Make sure your ph is stableIMG_0163.jpg
Oh yes, one more bit of advice for the day. Get yourself some ph solution that is meant for calibration and store your ph pen in it. I have a $12 ph pen and it is as accurate as any!IMG_0164.jpg

So far I have been posting on this thread for 4 days now and we are averaging 60-70 views a day!!!! This is amazing to me and I am forever grateful to the AFN family. Happy Growing To All, and I will see you in a bit.

People should be viewing. Your doing a stand up job!

Tea won't clog the drip system? If it does, try Dutch Master Zone. It's great stuff! I run it constantly with a teaspoon of epsom. Most people think epsom for mag def, but all metal salts are good anti-fungals.

Yeah I have 3 of those pH testers and calibration solution is a must. Mine floats a lot, but usually just a point or 2.

Tea is definitely a life saver. I developed brown slime algae a couple days ago on a couple of my think differents that are a bit over 2 weeks old I caught it early and was extremely close to dumping some sensizyme into the res in an effort to stop it (soooo glad I didn't) after a couple of hours of sitting in a 30% h202 and water solution I replaced a fresh res with just macro nutes (NPK) and some Stump Tea that I got free from the hydro store. I'm using the Stump tea as an interim solution while I brew up a version of heisenbergs tea (worm castings, great white and carbo load.) which I'll be feeding them tomorrow after another res change. I checked my girls last night and they where all wilted after a rough and busy day. I checked them this morning and they appear to be on the rebound a bit. So yeah, tea definitely works and I'll be incorporating it into all future grows from day 1.

As long as you've got a variety of bacillus, mycorizzhea, and trichoderma you're golden. Just be careful with how much molasses you're using as it can also feed the bad stuff. Make sure there is no floating sediment as well, as that will collect and potentially cause problems
