So I made a quick decision and bought an 8” exhaust fan for my new 4x8 tent. It’s the AC Infinity with temp and humidity control. I’m realizing that I probably should have just got a 6” but can’t return it. I’m hoping the automatic temp and humidity feature will make it so it doesn’t suck the tent in like an hourglass. I went to buy the kit that stops that but it’s out of stock everywhere.

Will I be okay?

Some fan models have an additional speed controller, but the typical temp/humidity controller behavior is usually just an on/off (at full speed) type of deal - not a variable speed adjustment.

You could try just reducing the intake resistance (i.e., increase the intake flow), for example by opening the intake flap more / adding a section of larger duct for the intake (so the cinch ports don't collapse as much), etc. That will increase the overall airflow through the tent, but reduce the negative pressure inside the tent, and reduce the overall "hourglassing".

Or, you can try to add an intermediate speed controller (like this) in between the fan power cord and outlet. Then, the on/off control can at least be reduced to low/med/high.

But, I'd just wait until it arrives and see how it performs, then decide on anything else you need. I suspect you'll be fine as-is, just maybe spending a bit more on electricity for the larger size fan.

You'll be fine. I have an oversized 6" AC Infinity in my 2x4 and it works great. I like the extra humidity extraction boost from the bigger fan (I'm in a very humid area), and the bigger fans are quieter at similar CFM levels. That being said, it's been so hot and humid lately I've been running it on max. All good.

The AC Infinity controller does have manual variable speed adjustment in 10% increments, in addition to the automated/alarm features. It's a pretty decent little unit :headbang:

What brand is the tent?
