A Sick Jock Horror

What are the temps in your room ? Also do you find any clear slime in your rez ? you said you keep the ph at 6 try droping it to 5.4 see if that helps 6 is high for a water system imo nutes are taken up and locked out with dif ph lvls * Edited I keep my DWC at 5.3-5.6 depending on the day of the week

One other thing I noticed. They are not drinking as much as they should. I think it might be a lockout. I am doing a rez change right now. I am not going to add any nutes. I am just doing Ph water to 6. I only have a liquid ph tester that came with my GH PH up and down kit. I am gonna add 1 ml per gallon of H2O2 and 3 ml per gallon of calmag. This was suggested by a guy at one of the hydro shops here. Does this sound right?

Running straight water for about 2 days and see if they look better or worse. Don't add even the calmag and ph to 5.7. I can guarantee you, if its your water, this will tell. Also, you really can't do hydro without a decent ph meter. Mine's an HM TDS-3. You can get this one for around $30. The cheap one's are no better than those test strips, and the test strips are all but useless. You really need and EC/PPM meter to, they are a must have.

5.4 is too low, and will invite more algea growth. the PH range for hydroponics is 5.7 - 6.3. Remember also, he's measuring with test strips and they are often off by a factor of .5 to 1.5!!!

Another thing to consider is the starting ppm of your source water. If it's already high, say over 150 ppm, adding additional cal/mag can also create a lockout situation. I've had this happen in my RDWC system. The plants stopped feeding and I started to see signs of P and K lockout, along with mag. Having a good pH meter that also measures ppm is a must have when growing hydro. Also, how long are you going between res changes? If you aren't doing them often enough you may have salt buildup which can cause issues as well.

Yes I will be getting a lot more equipment for my second grow. I am switching to 5 gallon buckets so I can concentrate on each plant instead of a tote where they all share the same reservoir. I will be switching to GH nutes and just taking my lessons from my first grow and applying them to my second when I start it. I want to get a PH meter. I am doing a 10-14 day rez change.

Ok introduced half nutes back to it today. I trimmed the dead fan leaves and we will see. I will keep you all updated
