Dr. Grinspoon just put into 12/12
a4-albums-july-2014-picture364889-p1040833.jpg

I have a few more pics but they aren't showing up. I will deal with it later. Anyways, I have a Dr. Grinspoon (100% sativa) and a Kushage(hybrid) I will be running this soil trial with and of course the Night Queen(100% Indica). So a mixture of different genetics to see how everything responds.

I have also started 8 autoflowers that I call Saturday Night Special which is about a 60% Sativa 30% Indica and 10% Ruderalis which I plan on trialing in the soil mixture just so I know of how the average auto will respond to the mix.

Be interesting to see if the Dr grinspoon looks like the pics from the seedbanks

Very cool man.yeah if its too nice its hard to cull anything once ya see, daaaamn they look good..lol. I gotta ask man,why the Powdered oyster?"AFN smoke out"

Is it intended to be re amended each use>wont the oyster powder leach out over time with roots taking it up quickly?and once you rinse your soil isn't it going to run the calcium out for the most part?or is that the point?:Sharing One:

Yeah, I hope not because they don't look all that great in some of the pictures. I have seen a few that looked more like SSH with large colas on top. I don't know if it is phenotypes or what. What I am hoping is that it is as potent as they claim.

The oyster shell is more for long term, slow release Ca. I don't intend on rinsing this soil and I don't never water enough to get any runoff, well mostly. I try not to anyways. It is my intention to keep enough pots in rotation that I can set one aside and let the roots break down while I am growing in another. I have no intention on ever rinsing the soil, as you know, we work too hard to keep the microbes happy.

So, my intent is, I have taken a soil sample of the original mix before any plants and sent it to Logan Labs. I have a baseline for where my nutrients are at. After all the plants have grown I will take another sample and send it to Logan. Hopefully, between the three different plants I will see some variance but not much. I will then be able to re-amend the soil for what is needed and put some more clones in. Once I know what I started with and what I finished with it should be fairly simple to keep amending the soil and maybe send it away once a year or so just to be sure I am still in spec.

Are you using any foliars or anything like that with yours? I have been eyeing some foliar Ca spray for a few weeks but haven't wanted to screw my numbers up on the soil. I figure if I start foliar feeding then I am not going to know what the plant truly takes out of the soil. I figure I will start doing that after I have my baselines established.

I'll be using a new Foliar this year from the Insect frass.but as a rule I often use a nice mellow Kelp spray.that work wonders on bugs, feeds the plant well and levels out most any basic def to a decent degree.ive always really liked it.im curious to see your results man.So are you blending the oyster powder into the soil for a few months?Im just a little confused I guess cuz I always thought that thats how you used the Powders n such.literally melted into the soil to almost infuse it on some level if you will.I thought cooking the crushed shells lent to a more healthy populous of Bennies and let Ca out over the long haul once it's high temp composted n starts the breakdown process..? reguardless of the molecular structure of the said amendment,it'll still lessen over time..? thats pretty cool if works awesome, cuz I always thought the opposite to some degree.

Sorry, I use my cal-Mag and kelp as my standard foliar but mostly just my Organic labs Kelp Liquid,I know Kelp powdered meals work rather well too.My buddy has been doing small trials for himself on the kelp foliars and he loves em.the pet store bought kelp powders that are mostly soluable are cheap n super effective.:Sharing One:

Yeah, you have it right, the powders are more long term and the finer ground they are the quicker the availability is. The gypsum and lime is more for immediate availability and the shells are more long term and for microbes like you said.

I was just doing some reading earlier today on alfalfa tea, basically fermenting it so the microbes break it down and using it for a flower booster. It contains Triacontanol which is a natural flowering booster. Along with a long list of tons of other beneficial nutrients as well but main one that got my attention was Triacontanol. Looks promising.

do ya have a link?Id like to give it a look man.Im looking at making either a dry spike.kind like three pixie stix sized holes around the pot in three places.Alfalfa does excellent in the soil ..nice.I made a basic rice culture last grow as more of an experiment really than anything.to literally grab microbes from the air and build n grow them.

But a friend of mine is using Alfalfa as a spray.jury is still out as far as I know.i'll have to ask him whats up with that.Well i'm completely stoked to see your results and how it maintains over a couple grows n break down n re builds.should be a good time. Thanks for the time and effort you put into your stuff man.i know ill benefit from it.:pass:"AFN smoke out""AFN smoke out"

Very cool man,Thanks. Im guessing that with that as used as tea and added a lil bit of frass (because of the Chitin) and the benefits it gets from that alone with some alfalfa,Im betting could lend to some really killer plants..Sweet!"AFN smoke out"
