What happens if you pollinate too early?

I no expert on breeding but I believe you want the best male and female because you eill get the best traits from both mom and dad. If you use a bad ''runt'' female you may end up with some smaller more ''runt'' like plants when you grow your seeds out. Always pick the best pheno.

unless you mean before the female throws any pistils
even preflower pistils can be pollinated

good advice
runts are runts for a reason , be it natural or grower mistake
either way the runt has some nasty juices flowing in her i wouldnt want passed on

Ok so my thinking is - i wanna pollenate pretty late on in flowering so the bud is still smokeable - as i heard as soon as shes pollenated she stops producing thc and starts producing seeds is that right?
How long can you flower say an 8 week flowering strain? Could you push it to 14 like some Sativas? Or would it just start to die?
Of course i would keep feeding where i would normally flush.

no she doesnt stop producing thc , what happens is she consentrates her energy into seed growth not bud growth , she produces ABUNDANT trichomes to protect those seeds , many well known breeders/growers/smokers have said the best they ever smoked was seeded
dont wait too long or the pollen might not take or you might not have the time needed to get the seeds to maturity

Just putting in my 2 pennies, I noticed pot size has an effect on the plants maturity and finish times.the smaller the pot the faster they seem to mature and finish.I like to play with 32oz
And 2 liter pots and plants tend to finish 1 to 2 weeks earlier which will leave a small window for pollonating and seed maturity.I have a male in a 32 oz pot at day 25 dropping pollen like crazy right now.the girls will be getting dusted in 2-3 days to make sure the seeds are ripe when they finish.
