I want to push my photo period plants into flowering before it gets too late. Do I need to black it out completely, or will fairly good darkness work? I'm seeing some outdoor grows that are flowering early supposedly because they are shaded the late part of the day. I have enough panda poly to cover most of my greenhouse, but I'm also considering a 90% shade cloth.

and input is appreciated!

No, it doesn't have to be blacked out completely,

In the greenhouse, just about any major amount of dark shade will help

I was flowering outside in April.

Especially if you go from indoors 18/6 to a light depo'd greenhouse.

I was flowering outside in April.

It has been my experience so far.

I'm not sure exactly how dim it needs to be. I've always read it needs to be as dim or dimmer than a full moon.

I know of people who have put garbage cans over plants to start them to flower Pop..."Bailers Booya"

I was thinking the same Pop.

Okay, so I have done some research, and there are peeps who swear by NO LIGHT at all. Okay, I only know what I grow, so could have been where the sun is, trees, but, the weather wasn't too bad, and I had about 4 hours of direct sunlight a day.

Thought I would put it there, so's you have a better informed choice.

Well I'm going to start with what I have and see what happens. No money for more materials till next month so this is worth a shot.

Thanks everyone, especially eekman!

Can't hurt to try. and I was wondering about complete black out as well. in nature night is pretty bright from the moon and starlight.

Imdbowlgod, your post is wrong.Red light is used for flowering not vegging, blue spectrum is for vegging.

Iv unapproved your post Imdbowlgod, That is wrong and as backward as you can get....Veg & Flower in photo period plants is based on light schedule...A photo plant will not begin to flower till it receives 12 hours of uninterrupted darkness......If you Don't know what your talking about please refrain from answering questions, a lot of people rely on quality info to grow there med's and info like such could really sent some one back......Every plant is different some are more sensitive then others I had one out side, that just would not start flowering! it was October? I'm thinking what the hell is going on, So Im standing at the back door and boom my neighbors house lights up! he had a motion sensor light that comes on 50 times a nite and it was enough to stop it from creating the hormones to start flowering! moved it to the other side and in a week she fired off like a rocket.
