New Grower Aerogarden Ultra, first grow auto berry ryder

I moved the ufo up about 6 more inches hopefully that will stop the twisting. Any advice is welcomed.

Hi Auto. yeah your right about moving the light up a bit to stop the twisting, i have mine about 12 inches above my Auto and will keep it there until the 5 week or so, then ill move it down to 6 inches, i got a 270W unit in one grow and a 240W in a other.
Both in cabinets, as far as the twisting goes tho it wont harm your plant it will jusst look a little weird.
The closest ive had my 270W ones is 1 inch away and they bleached the buds white.
Twisting could have something to do with the LED light bouncing around all over the place and the leaves are just trying to turn towards the best light source.
Anyhoo, they are looking good mate.
90W ufos have come a bloody long way now and they too are providing good results for the wattage.

AS far as the blending of the lights into green, again, the plant is spectrum sensitive so it will filter out what it needs and doesnt need from both the yellow and blue but will indeed ignore green. But as the two spectrum are lightly mixed the plant will still know what blue is and what the yellow is.
Its all about the NM's of the colours mate, ie red at 660Nm Blue at 425 Nm, plus the LED will still direct the light towards the plant, so what you are seeing basically, the greenish hue, isnt what the plant sees direcly underneath the light, if you were too look directly up at the light from underneath you wold see what i mean but i dont recommend that, just point a camera upwards at it and have a look then.

Heres an example;
From the Side - all pinkish whitish light,

Now from directly (sort of) underneath with my camera at its lowest light setting,

You can now see the seperate coloured LED's
Also depends on what angle your UFO lenses are at 60, 90, or 120 degree
If your getting a lot of light escaping the sides then its probably a 120.
You could make some sort of reflector yourself to go around the UFO to direct the light more downwards, ie more like a 60 or 90 degree.
Its all fiff faff tho, like i said before the plant will know that the two lights mixing into green are still two seperate lights.
Does that make sense? just had a Tangerine Dreamy Big one.......so sorry if rambling ..... lol..

:toke: Hope that info helps mate.

woahh your berrry blossom Lovely!!!

berry nice grow!! loving the LED move.//

Thanks for the great explanation I figured I might be a little paranoid about the lights but I had to ask. I see where you said you drop the lights down after week 5 does that help with denser buds or just a personal preference? Thanks again for the explanation

Another quick question, I have read through some led grows and it seems the vets here are using insane ppm/ec. Do I need to up my nute schedule due to the led? I thought a >1.2ec was good for a auto grow but these guys were at 2.2ec and pulling 4+ ozs off one plant. wild!

Day 47: bad camera cfl/led porn

This Aerogarden can handle a mj grow, just not a berry ryder grow she is a beast.

Day 52:

My girl is showing a lot of pistals every where, she is liking the led, I almost have her on full strength bloom nutes and she's handling them well. I plan on buying a tent so that I can start growing my low ryder #2 and a 60 day wonder. Any suggestions?

Day 56:
EC 2.0 PH 5.8

Well my girl is throwing more and more pistals at all her sites, I am still surprised at her size in the aerogarden rez(had a few people say on another forum it wasn't possible to grow a decent plant in an ag). I guess with the right tlc and help from the AN family anything is possible. She is drinking close to a gallon a day right now. I keep her ec/ph pretty stable and plan on adding some advanced nutrients overdrive to her next feeding. Will this cause her to stretch any more because she only has about six inches of room left before she's in the leds again lol. I think she has about 3 more weeks before I can even think about her final flush but if she continues to fatten up I'll be a real happy pappy. Let me know what you guys and gals think and as usual any suggestions are more than welcome!

Keep toking:smoke:

I have had a lot of fun growing in the little corner closet space my wife granted me but now she has given the ok for a tent, she actually said I can grow as much as I want as long as the smell is kept to a minimum.
So, I have found and ordered a 4x4x5 tent that should fit well in my given space. When that arrives I'm going to start germinating a DP Think Different and a Biodiesel Mass Auto for two 3.5 gallon DWC Bubblers led and cfl all the way. Any thoughts? :D
