Yes its a purely hydroponics. Infact its kinda a DWC(deep water culture) mod. I heard that once it's showing the leaves after germination (very) light feeding can begin. WELL, I will wait for others to respond.
Its roots and air. So, as soon as there are roots, there will need to be food. Go gentle on it. I'd take a 55 gal drum of soup over that small aero rig any day But, I am rooting (jah!) for you to succeed! What a fun endeavor!

I start all seeds in the Aerogarden too. I always start them with 1/4 strength feed, 1-1-1 with General Hydroponics Flora Series nutes. I have never had a problem. Hell, seed starting is one of the ratios on the bottle (1-1-1 is seed starting and cloning). It probably is a waste of money until they get roots but it has never burned any of them.
I leave them with this solution for two weeks, then switch to 1/4 strength 3-2-1 ratio. Then weekly water changes and slowly increasing the strength until I get to 1/2. I go 1/4, 1/3, 1/2. I have never had to go over 1/2 strength in my big bucket and that's to completion.
PH can be a pain in the rear but that's something you just have to play with. I honestly have never found an easy way out on PH. If it drops instead of rises I have learned to simply add tap water instead of investing in PH up. I don't like to use those chemicals, they get spendy and a little fluctuates a lot sometimes. They are very easy to overdue, depending on your water. Tap water, on the other hand, is more forgiving. I usually don't go over 1/4 teaspoon (1.25 ml, rounded) of PH down at a time. PH swings also seem to be less dramatic when a little "dirty water" from the tap is added to the distilled or RO. Calcium is a natural buffer and it seems like it really does the trick if you have it in your water. You have to play with this too, since all water chemistry is different depending on where you live. I mix mine 1/4 gallon tap and the rest RO.
As soon as the plant stops it's active growth and starts to flower I either switch completely to flowering ratio or use the transition phase recipe. Truthfully the plant I have now is the first time I have used the transition phase ratio and it doesn't really seem to look any different than other plants I have grown.
Sorry for the ramble... I'm just excited that someone else is using this amazing tool!!
Hey nben thanks for rambling, exactly what I needed. I am in a bit of a hurry gotta get some place. Will reply to your thread in detail later today. I am also going through the other thread you linked to. It's 20 pages so I was taking a bit of time to finish.
I gave the first feed today! Short post
0.5ml gro + 1ml micro + 0.5ml bloom saw from a General Hydroponics Nutes calculator.
Sometimes double posts happen to me, sometimes they don't. I'd definitely add more light to her in any way possible. It would be cool if you could add an LED set up to the light housing it comes with but that would be some pretty serious diy (at least for me).
Wild idea, TD in such a small rig, but I grew one in a tight space (had a few more watts than you though man), so I reckon it can be done. Good luck man. Subbed up!!
I mentioned in a previous post that I have supplemental lights! Here we go again. Cool daylight cfls 27 watts x 4 will put it up later when it's required during the veg phase. There is a picture attached to the post as well. Isn't that enough?
The ph was 8! Used ph down. Ppm values are 150. Now ph is at 4.5, not ideal but kewl it will rise by the morning I am sure. It's night time lights out here. The brown thingy on one of the leaves was just some gunk from the sponge. Took it off. I am thinking that the dome should be off tomorrow, what say?
