The Nice Boys from Mephisto have said they would be willing to provide us with some photo seeds for Prizes..
GA and Waxi will come over and give you a hand to set it Up...and I'm sure you can get a couple of willing member Helpers to give you a hand out with it...

I'd Suggest that you start it out as a 3 Monthly contest First..then if it proves popular you can move it to monthly as long as we can get the Prize donations/sponsors.

Oooooooooooo, that would certainly help me break out the old photo stock in the bean fridge and push me grow em out!
Sadly, i will admit, growing out autos, has made me not like the wait time on photos, so this would help! I do have some rather good photo beans stashed in the back corner of the fridge!

I've got plenty of folks in the autoflower photography section asking about there photo plants I could easily direct them to a photo comp. . And I've seen some of them.... WOW you may need to make the pic area BIGGER

I've had a chance to read most of the posts but not a chance to reply..so I'll try a catch up now on what is happening on AFN.

Thanks for all the Suggestions.....the Honest and Practical ones let US get YOU the site you Want.

Regarding the Viewing figures.
We are Stuck with them I'm afraid.....the two site Techies Northern Grower and AndyB have worked their Nuts off trying to reinstate broken Links.
They have managed to get AFN back to premium position if you google Autoflower but the rest will stay broken for the foreseeable future.

We are Officially on a Rebuild..again..and IMO it will be late spring early summer before we gain our original viewing figures.

So we need to move on...

I was saying to Staff..instead of looking at the current viewing figures as a problem..we should take Advantage of the quiet times to get some of our systems in order..get a spring clean done on site..and have a look at the front page order and see if we can't get it into a more Grow Encyclopedia format to make it more User Friendly.

These improvements are ongoing Now.

In the pipeline..we are going to start collating grow info from members grow threads to make into Tutorials for the New Growers section.
This will be a big move forward for us being able to provide a more structured Instruction manual for New Growers to help them get it Right first time.

Eventually we Hope to be able to offer a Quick Start Guide to Autoflowers..with Simple KISS tutorials to get them started..and a more Advance Study for competent growers wanting a more Specialised study class.

We are going to require member/mentors for both the Quick Start and the Advanced growing sections..so don't be surprised if you are approached to mentor/teach or let us use your grow thread info for tutorials.

We have already set up the Grow-Offs section and GA is doing his Best to Populate it.
He is also working with the AFN seed sponsors on your behalf to provide Prizes for BOM and the Grow-offs.

And I Must say the Seed Vendors have been really Generous and Deserve a wave of gratitude.

In the pipeline we intend to approach the Breeders like Mephisto.Sweet Seed..who usually have Reps on AFN to see if we can get some "Grow along with the Experts" master classes where they Name the cross to be grown..and members can follow along with The Expert.

Some of the Problems we have identified on site and how we propose to Fix them.

Live Help and the Infirmary are Probably the Most Important threads on site if you are in Trouble with your plants.
The guys and girls on Live Help do a Brilliant Job..but we have Trouble providing staff help in peak holiday season..so blue is changing our staff training protocols around so we have more cover in both areas..we will also be looking to draft some competent member in to help with the Infimary.

If You are Good at solving basic plant problems and deficiencies and wouldn't mind helping out..please Speak Up.
Bearing in mind most members asking for Help are probably New..a pleasant laid back personality will be taken into consideration on any selections...

Staff List and Section leadership.

We have found that Staff Lists get forgotten and outdated so if new members go to sections they don't know Who to contact for Help.

We plan to change this by providing a section Intro to the Staff or members to contact and a brief Intro from the Staff/members involved.

These Intros will be kept current by the Global Mod in charge of that section...so members always Know Who they can Contact when they have a Problem.

Anyone wanting to View the new style section Intro can check them out in pops Experimental section or atrains photography section.

Which brings me onto Member Power.

With all the Work I have planned for Staff..they are going to be working their little bits off right past New Year..
we don't have enough staff to cover every section..and if we have no-one to Nurture a section..check every question is being Answered...how ever Good it may be..it Dies.

So..we are turning some of the sections over to Member Power.
I had a chance to look around an approach 3 members who I Thought could provide this Help.
Step up atrain and pop22.

atrain has volunteered to run the photography section..and pop the experiments section..it is a 6 months trial..but from what I have seen already they are providing an amazing Service already.
We are still looking for members to take on the Video and DIY sections..if we have any volunteers

I think the site works great now and I find it truly amazing that you are constantly working on making it better!
ALL of the AFN Staff deserve Kudo's for an excellent job and for providing us with an excellent site!

I Love the mentoring Idea.

Everyone has great ideas and techniques but that can get very confusing with to many different answers when you are noob. I didn't know which way I was going during my first grow. So on my seconded grow I reached out to @JAYAR Being he has some fantastic grows and was always on. He was more than happy to help me get into and learn how to grow in Coco. I pretty much followed everything he did and so far It has been a huge success. I was going to ask @Waximus because he is always on and knows what he is doing, but he already does so much I didn't want to burden him. Of course i still call on him for Advanced Nutrients questions. Love you guys!

@Mossy I do the BHO side of the House but I am more then Happy to help with another section.

What does the Video side of the House entails? I already do videos and have a YouTube channel so I think I can off assistance there as well.

I try to pop in the Help threads when I see them but @Renaissance Redneck or other staff is really on top of the game there.

We don't get much traffic in the BHO thread at this time but it will pick up so if you have a spot for me somewhere else that I can help let me know.
