My airstones go bad rapidly, from root rot, which causes more root rot. Have tried cleaning them with boiling water, and soaking in distilled white vinegar. It barely cleans them, and they are falling apart.

Does anyone have a good alternative for airstones? Someone said he just runs the tubes into the water without airstones. Have thought about clogging the end, and putting a bunch of pin holes in the tubing.

Thanks for any suggestions!!

That would work. Try getting a couple of those cheat cylindric hydroponic stones. Those won't fall apart on ya for sure. I can't imagine them clogging up either.

Instead of boiling them and putting them in vinegar, just soak them in peroxide over night then scrub them with a brush. You'll see the peroxide working as soon as you put the stone in. Works for me with no hassles at all.

The vinegar definetly f-ed em up. I try blowing some air through them also, to dislodge any crap.
