Extraction Alcohol Free Medical Cannabis Tincture

The lid on the jar. That's why you do the water bath and just a simmer. However if you do have a lid that fits over the whole pot them you don't have to add water as often. I now make this using a electric slow cooker and leave out any extracts. We got to like to flavor of it. Good luck.

With the electric slow cooker do you still require to put water in the cooker itself? Or do you just set the jar with the glycerin and herb in it and set it for a couple of hours without decarbing?

Are you still using the same ratio? 1/8oz (3.5gs of herb) to 1/8 cup (250 millimeter of glycerin)?

I still use the water bath. Simmering in the jar can cause a buildup of pressure. The water bath prevents this by regulating the temp as well as evening out the pressure. Those measurements look correct. Its not to the exact measurement but this is a really good starting point. I actually make mine a little more diluted. I still don't have a massive tolerance so I really don't need it that strong.

Sorry about the million questions. But do you decarb the herb at all? How long do you leave it in the slow cooker (I'm guessing you leave it on low temp?) Do you shake/stir it?

Thanks a million

I've always heard this described as 'cannagliss', but whatever you call it it is my favorite way to dose. Many effects, like the degree of pain relief and relaxation, a more energetic vibe or the opposite, etc are more or less strain dependent. But there seems to be some form of pain relief present with any strain, and it puts me in such a generally good, relaxed mood regardless of the strain that I'd swear it's got some impressive antidepressant effects. I usually start my process in alcohol (if leaf material is too wet it can cause mold or rancidness in just glycerine), but I usually cook that off while adding to another medium like glycerine or honey. I've even started playing with agave nectar lately. I like glycerine the best, but that's mostly because I'm an e-cig user so I always have VG on hand (and I don't accidentally vape honey in a hilariously thoughtless moment). If you have hash you can make it more concentrated so you dose with less material, though as you've seen bud works fine.

Also, anyone who does this a lot or uses VG to supply patients with meds might want to keep an eye on Box Elder. They've been known to just give away gallon-sized containers of VG completely free, not even with a shipping charge. I still have two gallons left myself, and they must have shipped at least 50 gallons just to people I know. I have no idea how frequently they might do this, but I know it has happened more than once.

I just use the driest stuff I have. I do not do anything more then grind it as fine as possable and adhere to the 6 hours. I do shake it lightly every hour or so but make sure that the herb is in the liquid and not stuck to the sides of the jar. Oh and try to strain it while its still warm (not hot) as it thickens slightly. No worries on all the questions friend. I love to pass it along and hope it helps. It really is a good product if made properly. And a little tip....its awesome in coffee.

I always decarb first. This makes sure it's orally active and dries it out more; if the herb is too wet it can cause mold or rancidness in the final product. This is really only a concern for long term storage, but I'd rather make a large batch once than make a small one every week. I stir or shake (depending on how much I'm making I'll either use a jar in a crockpot or just the crockpot) while cooking, and generally alternate between low and medium temps for 4-8 hours, depending. Also, if you pre-wet the cheesecloth with VG before straining it seems to hold less of the material once you're done.

Ratatoskr what is your decarb method?

If I'm using hash, I usually put it in the oven at 220-230f for 20-30 minutes, for bud it's usually 260-280f for 40-60 minutes (depending on amount and dryness of material). For small amounts I use a small ceramic ramekin, and for larger amounts a pyrex casserole dish; they both heat evenly so the decarb is done as smooth as possible. Either way I'll tightly seal my cooking utensil in two layers of thick foil; this combined with the low heat prevents/slows terpenes from escaping, which adds potential medical benefits and cuts down on the smell.

The only time I don't decarb is when making coconut oil caps, but that's because I cook those long enough and at a high enough temp to decarb while cooking. The heat from making 'gliss may be enough to decarb on its own, but for max preservation and activity I always decarb first. Especially when I'm making a larger amount in a crockpot, just because with the low temp settings on crockpots I can't make sure the entire solution hits the temps needed for long enough.

Hi romeo

I don't smoke and don't ever intend to, so naturally I'm very interested in glycerin tincture.

Let's recap.
Decarb the weed first at about what temperature?
I don't have an access to crockpot since they don't sell it where I live. What about if I just put all in oven at 100 degrees C for some time?

Or should i make water bath?
One guy wrote that he puts all in the glycerin for a month and in the end he puts the jar in the oven at 85 degrees C
I have 70g of DP Starryder. How much glycerin should I use? 8.5ml of glycerin to 1g of weed?
For 70g that's 600ml of glycerin.
