Howdy Ho!

Figured I'd journal this one here so others can follow along and most of the other social media platforms still hate us, Yay!

Anyway, I have decided to throw my hat in the ring for the 2025 American Autoflower cup. I'm running 2 of my lines in order to pick the best for the entry. If both do well I may enter both, well see where the grow takes us and decide from there.

The Lab
4 4x4 tents
3 FGI 600 watt pro flex
1 Photontek 600w

Soil is Bio365 BIOALL with DTE amendments (All purpose, BIO Fish, and Work Castings)
Will be feeding them with corn steep powder if needed given the smaller containers. Mostly likely a top dress around weeks, 2,4,and 6

Germination method, direct to soil as always. Rice hulls on top for mulching layer and to provide consistent moisture in the soil surface. Also aids in fungus gnat protection.

Tents 1&2

304 F4 Pheno Hunt in tent 2 and spare tent to allow room if something large or high number of females show up.

Seeds were dropped on the First of Dec, so i expect some heads above soil in the next few days here. Once we get the heads turned up, ill drop another update.

Nice space!
You know, folks still remind me of that tent full of Alf#5 from way back then.

So time for a proper update. Life is busy and time flies and of course, we have the holiday. I am up late as santa had some things to put together and then time for a proper joint. So since im in the lab, might as well update.

Got some Hits and misses on this round and my dumbass forgot just how inert seed starting mix is, even with some bio activity in it. So i stunted about half of the original crop... see we all do this shit :woohoo1:

BUT it gave me some shots to tag in here that people can search for when looking for stunted plants, or what an auto looks like if its stunted. If the nutrient value in the soil you start in is minimal, autos tend to need food to metabolize quickly. So if you are starting seed in something that has no nutrient value, its important to get some kind of food in there quickly.

"Well, Dan, you grow in organics, how do you feed them early". There are a couple ways that you can do that. A light tea, seaweed kelp is a good source, or, like I use, corn steep powder. Both can get food to the seedling at a young stage without cooking it and helping it get into the better media below.

Comparison shots for what I'm talking about.

The first group here are from the original start of 10 plants. Theses were the 304 cultivar that i have been working on over the last 2-3 years now. Some of them made it through the initial shock and others were not so lucky.

Now to something happy, what happens if you don't forget about it and stay on top of the feeding. They look like this.... This is day 7 for this round of 304. They were fed corn steep powder at a light dose for the first waterings.

There was another round of 304 ran and I did better on the timing and feeds. These guys are 21 days old. The wee ones with the tags are a line called Dakar Haze and are an F4 auto fem from Alba Automatics. I'm looking forward to these as they have been line worked and the care for the breeding project was top notch, hunted genetics, not pollen chucked like a lot of shit these days....
