So it recently occurred to me that it's not just me who still watches American Idol now that Simon Cowell is gone, haha (thanks Trapper =P)

So if you watch- anyone with some top 3 predictions?

To respond to your post in Chandy's thread:

I don't really watch any of the other singing comps. just Idol. I couldn't watch last year because I think Minaj is just a vapid, awful waste of oxygen.

Judge line-up now is absolutely perfect. Harry has a little "user-friendly" deficiency but he is dead honest and knows his shit. J-Lo is just a really honest, nice,
genuine person it seems.

Keith rounds it out nicely and has a big heart but will shoot you straight.

As to Casey...

I'm a grown, 43 year old man and I have the AI studio versions of his performances on my iTunes. It's embarrassing. But it is what it is.
I have perfect pitch in my ears (and probably a little Asperger's as well) so I have auditory issues with notes sung sharp or flat...it actually makes me cringe
and leave the room. Casey's performances never made me leave the room...he was extremely gifted.

Have not heard his single. But Phillip Phillips' stuff sure took off, didn't it.

To me, Americas got Talent isn't a singing competition as much as it is...everything else. It actually irritates the piss out of me that they even allow singers and or musicians to audition. They have enough shows they can sing on. Dont clog up AGT because you couldn't get on American Idol, lol.
Sprice built re-donk Rube Goldberg Machines but was probably on the autistic side himself. They actually asked him at one point, are you even excited to be here? Because this kid just showed absolutely no emotion but has this ability to build these complex machines. There were some really good comics and magicians last year too. I think to some extent, I like AGT better.

I agree with you about the judges..though I did like when Steven Tyler was a judge. He was always saying stuff to get him bleeped and keep the sound people on their toes lol. Maybe your wife will know the answer to this - (Im a female yes, but Im 27 so I never understood it and still dont haha) why/how on gods green earth did/do people find Steven Tyler attractive?!? If there is ONE thing that solidly PROVES that we as a species, evolved from monkeys - its that man. He has got to be one of THEE most unattractive men I have ever seen. The guy in 'Mask' may even be better looking.

Then we can never come in contact with each other LOL. I'm always singing SOMETHING obnoxiously lol

When you get a minute, you should check out the Casey Abrams single.

I hear ya. Britains got talent is 2 weeks in for us now and theyve already put a load singers through. My personal opinion is they should ban singers from the comp altogether unless theyre under 16 (Under 16s cant go on xfactor).
Also the winner of BGT gets to perform at the Royal Variety Show (and £250,000) ....Not much variety with singing really, bet the Queens sick t the back teeth o singers, lol.

PPS - Steve Tyler is an awful looking human being. Not against ugliness but to say that man is attractive goes against nature, evolution... and all other things sciencey... and tings!

I will ^ ^ ^

I tend to watch AGT in bits as a result of news links to youtube...something that gets some buzz behind it.

My wife is 10 years younger than me...so the Steven Tyler mystique is lost on her to an extent as well. It was the seventies...
he was a rock star. He does look like an alien with wrinkles and lips 2X normal size...same can be said for Jagger. People in
general weren't as attractive in that era, they were more interested in the lifestyle, I suppose.

Tyler was a good judge, you just had to keep a short leash on him because he was always hitting on girls...it was tacky.

What a fantastic turn of phrase.

See now I agree to an extent with that statement. I also think they should ban singers from talent competitions. HOWEVER, lol my theory here is that, if you aren't 16, excuse my french but...oh fucking well lol. You'll have to wait until you're old enough.
It's like trying to get on a roller coaster with a height requirement of 5.5 feet, but you're barely 5 foot. Does that mean that just because you stood in line, they should change the rules so that you'll be allowed on? lol
Another example? Unless you give me EXEMPLARY service, you arent getting a tip. And perhaps that makes me sound like a dick - and hey, so be it lol my glass was empty for 80% of the night, I had to wait 20 minutes for napkins, and to top it all off, my damn food was cold. When you took this job you KNEW that you'd be working for tips and you know that in order to GET those tips - you gotta work your ass off and do it with bells on. Im sorry if you've got 3 kids at home and a dog to feed - thats a real sad story, but why am I going to PAY someone for not doing what I'm supposed to be paying them to do? IE keep my damn cup full so I can quench my thirst.
DAMMIT. :crying:

Reckon they should let the youngsters go on xfactor. We live in a different world these days where the gypos at the fair dont care about dangerous health and safety restrictions, they just want their monies. at least then BGT could actually be saved f talent and not shitty ass singers.

Guess them folks get t ya!!!!! :-p lol. In this country nobody really tips anymore (Except t drivers f some reason. Taxi drivers, takeaway delivery drivers and the bin men, lol). I used t work in a Chinese Takeaway "Golden Wok" answering phones, taking orders and such the like and I never got tipped!! Must o made about 3 quid from random 10ps in the whole 4 years I worked there! Tight wads in this country! Made me wish I Iived in America!! Id o got tips all day son! Lol. Someone did give me a tenner once but that's only cus he fancied me and the sole of my trainer was coming off. Pity and money in one go, I see that as a good day, haha.
Really hate them sob story's though! Xfactors the worse f us! Sentimental music plays and them someone tells you the story of how their fathers mother got with their bother t make their sister a baby :-/ Unnecessary babble if you ask me! Just sing and go home. We can listen t the bullshit if they make it t boot camp where they ram it down out throats again!! Rant over! Lol. While where on the subject of talent shows tho, what's your take on one direction?

I feel you there! I'm a musician and can't stand to watch CJ perform on AI. I would fast-forward the DVR to get past after the first few bars if he went sharp. I'm sure he's a real nice guy, but he should have never made it past Hollywood singing sharp like that.
Jena and Caleb (or maybe Sam) are my "final 2" choices. Alex is still too stuck in his own head.

:peace:

Yeah, I'm surprised he made it as far as he did, he seems like he had ALL the ingredients, EXCEPT the ability to sing music properly...sorta important.

Honest?
I don't 100% know that I know who one direction ARE lol Dont get it twisted, I've heard of them and might have even heard a song but wouldn't be able to tell you honestly that I did or didnt like/and or/ respect them.

And now that we have completely changed the subject, LOL (at least its my thread this time haha)
From what I can remember with out actually going back and finding it, you're around my age, a year or so younger, correct (I'm 27)? They were (keyword there is were, lol) HUGE here in the US and really all over the world back in mid-late 90's...whats your take on Hanson?
