Lighting And there was light

According to the folks at Cob Kits this driver can be pushed up to 220W. Before I plugged them into my Kill-a-watt meter I cranked them all the way up just to see what they would do. OMG the light was absolutely blinding. I couldn't really look at it. I do eventually want to run my grow closet at 300W but I also have to run within the constraints of my heat sinks. I will be monitoring their temps. Thanks Pipes
How many watts will those drivers push? Been studying for my next light build, it appears if you want high wattage cobs it's best to run them in parallel.

Right back at you. Trying to convert thousands of members to a better light source is not an easy task. These DIY and quality cob lights save people money every second they operate. I wish I could post the pictures but I have some sphere specs showing a 36 watt cob vs a reputable LED vendors 300 watt light and you would not believe me but the cob produces a better spectrum and more useable light. Everyone here is probably sick of hearing me talk about efficiency but that's the single most important thing in a grow light. Pretty fU€K![HASHTAG]#g[/HASHTAG] crazy right?!

You may not be able to convert everyone but you're getting their attention and educating others. Yup-the light these things produce is intensely brilliant! Incredibly bright!! I hope this solves my light issues that I have had over the years. I pretty much ran the gamut for lights. From hps to floro,t-5, cfl, and finally led panels. The led's produced some very nice stuff but the durability of the panels themselves is what finally drove me away. Enter you and the DIY section and things have hopefully changed. This has been a very satisfying project. Thanks again Smo for all your help. I really appreciate it. Pipes

Was sitting down enjoying all the white light in my groom today and I noticed something very obvious. The 280 watt draw mars 600's don't even come close in the amount of light being emitted compared to the 300 watt DIY I made. Maybe Half at best... COB's are where it's at

Yup-I have to agree with you. These COB's are undoubtedly the brightest lights that I have ever seen! Pipes

:rofl: If you had a clue on how many times I have heard this.

I don't know if eBay just has a hold on people or those 79.99 dollar lights just look that appealing. I was excited above but I do hope to convert as many as possible. What you saw first hand is what I'd love everyone growing with cheaper lights to see. That's why I'm here so much.
