I'm going to be starting to grow in my cabinet which is only 24" high 14.5" deep and 34" wide. Baring in mind will need to take the space the light and pot take from that height. I'll be growing under either a 150w hps or 250w cfl (temps depending and when the mrs gets her crap out of the cab lol)
I already have about 20 autos still in packaging that I was going to use in the shared tent I was growing in but I think they will all be far too big for such small space.
What size pots would you recommend and what strains would give me the biggest yield and fastest for that space?

And I thought I was vertically challenged in a 38" space using led's!! One thing for sure is you are going to have to learn how to train!(if you don't already know how) LST will be your best friend in a situation like yours. There is guys out there that grow in such a limited vertical space as yours but not many. Pot size will need to be small(1-2L airpots) or they will outgrow the environment. Heat removal will be another issue you will need to overcome with such a small space
Good luck! I look forward to see how you make out!

Edit- Please note...I am not an indoor expert at all. In fact I have not grown an indoor canna plant in over 2 decades(though I do have extensive outdoor photo canna grow experience). Most of the stuff I am throwing down I have accumulated doing research and from the fine folks here on AFN.

Haha. I've been looking around at lsting, has anyone tried the spiral lst method?
They only do 1 & 3l airpots. Think I might have to go with the 3l and trim it a little then.

I tried spiral training a bunch of times when I first read it in Marijuana Growing Handbook on smaller outdoor photo plants around 20 years ago. Wish I had some of those old pics from back then! Though thinking about it...spiral lst training these days is probably different than what I did...lol
Whats your plan for temp control? Ive never used a cfl or a small hps before. But your space is really small...i'd make sure you can control heat before buying small pots.

Tbh I've not thought about that yet as I want to see what the temps are like first. I've got a circulating fan to hopefully help keep temps down. But as I said, I'm going to see what the temps are like with both lights to see which is better, then I'll look at some temp control :)
Had a thought though, if the mrs doesn't mind me completely fucking up her cabinet, I'll make holes big enough in the base for the pots to slide into but also block any light from escaping and with there being a bit of a gap underneath I still have access to the run off saucer

That's exactly what I am doing to increase my vertical to 38".(I cut the bottom out of the cab to give me another 6" vertical)

Haha. If I do it I'll have an extra 5". So I'm hoping when the light has been fitted into the cab it only takes up about 5", if so and I make holes for the pot(s) I'll have 19" grow height :D

I recommend the 'tying your girl down hard' method. But not too hard. Good luck.
