Lighting Are autoCObbs worth it?

So you're saying 4 oz per plant with 3 autocobbs?

That's pretty dang optimistic to expect 900 grams off of 220 watts. I'm not saying it can't be done, but that's a pretty big ask to consistently pull off.

Someone go find Ganjamoto and have him try haha.

I have mixed feelings about COB lighting. My grow tent is 2’x2.5’x5’ and I run 4 Citizen CLU048 1212 200 watts total and I’m getting about an ounce per plant. My reservation is that they do increase the temperature in the tent by 10-13 degree F when on even though people try to say otherwise. I like the amount of light but don’t like the added temps b/c I would prefer my top temps be around 78 degree F but I’m right at 90 most of the time, I actually quit trying during the summer and now just do fall/winter grows. I’ve just accepted the fact that I will only grow small plants with high quality bud that will never make the cover of High Times! It keeps me in good bud and I have a very cool hobby.

Had the same set up when I started, first 2 plants were 2 oz a piece. The next few I got 3-4 oz with mid sized strains . So it’s definitely not the lights , cobs work well but I’ve moved on to strips & qbs . Are you pushing out the hot air & sucking in fresh air? Temps could be 5 degrees cooler , mine stay @ 84-88f with lights on & do well. So something else might be the problem unless you’re using SOG type plants that grow small . What’s your full set up ? With more information I’m sure someone could help you out .

Just looked in at your grow. They are looking good. The main problem i see is some are getting more light than they want and leaving them in the small containers too long will make for short plants. Start in final pot next time. Any of them that razor edge move to side.

I want the plants to stay small, my usage is much lower than what I produce.

Yes, I use exhaust fan with carbon filter attached, natural draft for air intake, three fans inside for circulation. I’m using 2 gallon pots but am going to switch to 1 gallon, testing that with current grow seems to be fine. I hand water, use a humidifier and add notes about once a week. I wanted to use a portable air conditioner but have no way to drain it. I can’t use all of what I produce but I have a great time growing and learning. Not totally dialed in but very close, would love to solve the riddle of the temps/lights but if I don’t I’m still way ahead of the game!

Well with small plants you wont be getting pounds no matter what light you use. My suggestion is drop one of the autocobs switch to 5000k during veg then switch back to cob after preflower stretch. It will keep nodes tight and make colas from stock out. But when you root restrict you hurt yield. Training sure makes a difference on height. So maybe 2 in tent in 3 gal pot and train to fill up area.
