The cheapest option are pH strips, vinegar or C-vitamin (l-ascorbic acid). Still better than nothing.

Your soils gonna be hot af if you mix the super soil with worm castings and bottled nutes. Why would you use bottled nutes with super soil thats counter productive. Pick one or the other your best bet is take the happy frog mix that with the of then add your super soil. Fill buckets 70% with that mix then top off the rest with plain happy frog. If your using the super soil you can run tap water with no ph adjustment if its not super high my tap ph is 7.5 and my organic medium is active enough to buffer on its own. Pick one super soil or bottled nutes dont use both you with burn your plants fox farm is chealted nutes and plants take those up like nothing and you with get nitrogen toxicity and many other problems too. LESS IS MORE WITH AUTOS!!!!!

I'd recommend investing in a Small Boy declorinating and sediment filter if you're just doing a soil grow. pH pens are the most accurate, but I've seen guys use the pool test strip kits. Use something like Earth Juice Natural Down to bring your pH to the 6.5 range. It doesn't have to be dead on the money since your soil is going to be working for you. I highly recommend a product like Recharge to keep your soil taking the guess work out of it for you.

What's PH?
I'm lucky enough to have good well water and have learned to read these lovely plants over the years.
Just starting to grow you'll need one for sure. I'd get a pen over any strip testing kit. I got a Hanna ph and ecc pen from dr foster and smiths 10 years ago or so when I was doing DWC and they still work, original batteries even.

Shit I wish I could afford super soil amendment from mephisto genetics I just run too many plants at a time it'd cost me 120$ to do 12 5 gallon pot probably. Roots organics and mammoth microbes works wonders for me. Ill never use any fox farm products again mabe the ocean forest but thats it.

would have loved to use roots. but where im at its not available with out paying ridiculous amounts on shipping. so was our best options. and we are not using bottled nutes. just the supersoil perlite and our . just a small bit of extra castings to the mix. i was only asking if nutes were needed towards end. like in the flower stage.
p.s if anyone has a source in states for free shipping on roots let me know plz
