Lighting Autocobs and Mephisto...by slowandeasy

I have (2) 6500K in my 2x4 closet for the nursery/pre-veg area and they're rocking the house. One of my 3x3's is rocking (4) of the 3500K's as well. Nothing to dislike about them so far.......... good luck
I am surprised that 4 of them is not too strong in a 3x3. Glad to hear the 6500k are doing well in the 2x4, perfect size for 2.

We were not sure at first but so far so good and temps have been perfect no complaints on my end. The AutoCob tent run 10 degrees cooler than the QB tent all day everyday. I can keep my hands on the top of the light (driver) all day and not get burnt too. Absolutely loving these lights and what they're doing. I can't say enough good things about them. And the 6500K are surprising me I have never had clones growing so fast, the combo of DWC and Autocob's seems to be a winner in my book. Time will tell as I finish this grow and move into the next one. And this is coming from a die hard HID guy over here who has built DIY lights before using Cree. I much prefer these COB's over any of the Cree's I have used. @BigSm0 hit it out of the park with these lights and it's a matter of time before people see the light (pun intended).

The (4) in the 3x3 replaced my 600W Blue MH............

It's not just you, I have been thinking the same. I considered doing multiple tests with 1,2&3 cobs and again with mixed temps. My issue is I'm in an outdoor building so I can't just throw up a tent and grow away.

I want to run a mixed spectrum n my little 4x4, probably 1 3500k in each corner and 1 6500k in the middle? Possibly with only the reflector on the one in the middle with the other 4 without. I am running 5 3500k in a 4x4 now all with reflectors and it seems pretty strong! I have to keep them far away.
I think 2 3500K are going to do really well in that small tent I have. I am going to remeasure it. I thought it was 36x18. But if it is a 2x4 I will run 2 3500k and 1 6500k in the middle without any reflectors at all because the height is lower than my other tents.

The last place I'd run the reflector only is in the middle this will create a hot spot.

Just my $0.02 :2cents:

Very good point, but I run mine up higher, so they spread out more and don't stress the plants. I don't like my Autocobs closer than 24", but I have more than enough to go around! I am running 5 3500k in there all with reflectors and I think I could take them all off and do just as well. Was thinking if I put a reflector on the 6500k only it would intensify the blue ratio more than without. But obviously it will also narrow down the spread. I could also rotate plants if needed.

I run all of mine no reflectors and am between 16'-24" depending on plant reaction. I'm of the opinion inside tents the COB's do better with no reflectors..........my lights are 16" apart from each other center on center. When I place my next order in the near future I was thinking of getting more 6500K to mix my spectrum as well but I'd run (2) 6500K/(2) 3500K for my 3x3's.........

Same concept as finishing buds off with my Blue MH, more frost

Worked on my SH run last time I ran 240 watts of Cree and ran the Blue MH last 1.5 weeks or so. Fantastic buds and smoke.

I will be watching to see how your spectrum mixing goes to see how I proceed. I'm curious in the future to try a DWC/SCROG with one single plant with one of my sativas, never done a SCROG before......................................

I would agree that in a small tents no reflectors are needed and can actually be too intense. But I have much larger gardens that I have Autocobs running in as well. because I have so many Autocobs and larger space I can raise them higher and use the reflectors. It is obvious how much more the reflectors direct the light downwards, you can see the light bounce off the walls much higher without reflectors.

Yup when I had my 5x9 at the old place with 8 foot ceilings reflectors was a non issue and actually helped to penetrate down lower. But not the same situation now...........
