Lighting bad t5s?

hello afn just wondering about my t5s. I got a couple of four pack red ho bulbs and a pack of vho red bulbs that were almost double the price.after about 2 weeks w the reds my vho bulbs apear brownish grey kinda dark and dull.are they supposed to be like this?the cheaper ones seem to be throwing much more light.I was thinking of getting rid of them and just going with the cheaper ones they seem to be better.???

How many watts are the vho red bulbs?

the vho are spectralux 95watt 3000k. the ho are apallo 54watt 2700k.

If your T5 fixture is only HO and not VHO, that is likely the problem. You can't run VHO bulbs in an HO fixture. The ballasts are different, so what you are seeing is likely from them being underpowered. I'm running some UNO XHO fixtures. I can run VHO bulbs in them but not the regular HOs.

I think that may be it.Ill have to check my old paper work,its prob just Ho.so the bulbs are prob good.today some of the dull ones were bright,n yesterdays bright ones are dull. guess ill change them all,THANK YOU!! for the help.
