New Grower Bay Area Backyard Grow Take TWO :D

Looking nice Sapphire! I am particularly keen to Anne. She has some wonderful colors coming out. Gonna be a beauty.

:buds: Hi there! :D Ya know, between our 2 threads, it's like I'm having 2 conversations with the same person at the same time!! (Cartman)...warp my fragile little mind,... :roflcry:
Oh good!- you saw that sticky by Muddy... luv that guy! (LOL!) I so glad you adopted my name for S-T Honi,... :smoke: I'm not sure of the pronunciation, but I think it's more like 'hawny'...
Oh. My. Goodness.... I'm DYING thinking about how they will look "extra" naked without their leaves since they are SO hiding all the goodies! I was going to say like a wet cat, but I hope they don't shrink THAT much!
No doubt about it, we're gonna have to have a pre-harvest pervy-photo shoot of all the girls for the 'swimsuit' portion of the contest! :crying: As for looking skinny, not a chance! The density of goodies along the stem is very high... my mini-purple Star Ryder is a fine contender as well (good pic at my thread)... **** I wouldn't worry to much about seeds, Mz. S'... very few pods opened, and the pollen grains still have a very chancy journey to the other gals; even so, he-she was a stout healthy plant, and likely would produce a nice cross anyway... win-win! :smoke: **** I did an update, with some (I think) solid, salient observations and lessonsabout auto stress reactions and such, and some cool pics! ....gotta respond to you there too, still! Oh yah, that smoked shoulder was off the hizzle :pimp: LOL! Thanks GF....
PS- how about your fert' feeding regime currently?

Thanks A4! I'm getting ready to harvest her in the next few days it looks like! :booya:

Ya know what, waira? I should have STOPPED the feeding a bit ago, turns out... LOL I lost track of everything, and they are at day 81 now, 3 days from a FULL 12 weeks. Don't think they will all be ready in 3 days, but I re-read Muddy's threads on the life cycle and harvest clues and I should have stopped when the fan leaves started to yellow. Think I'm OK tho since most don't seem ready. Last feeding was 5/30...

I've been out taking photos and checking trichomes this morning. Be posting all of that in a bit...

:face:*smack* Oh yeah, that too... LOL! No harm, no foul, S'... I'm finding that the fan leaves go fast, but the bud leaves don't move so quickly...You know what? Hazel's 'twin sister' Cobra has taken the lead on finishing- she might find herself tied up or lounging in the hanging dry-rack in a few days...BTW, we haven't talked harvest turkey yet, have we... about how we dry, cure, etc... Last season I scored this great mesh dry rack! I'll take a pic and post it for you... :brow: -I've been scopin' the trich's too!.... My question about fert. regime was what strength and frequency have you been using it before now... just so I can get a handle on the Roots switch-over.... *** I'm also trying to figure out how to get good c/u shots of the goods....I tried shooting through a magnifier glass, and it worked okay, but still wasn't close enough,... I'll refine later today! .... :D Stickbuddy has started his thread! :dance2:

Hey waira -

I asked about the ladies being 3 days from 12 weeks and still green HERE and it seems that not all strains finish with yellowing leaves. I was a little concerned about how long I should wait since 12 weeks is some kind of genetic limit for the autos. The hold-outs are all sativas, which makes sense. SOOO change of plans - I'm going to try a day or 2 of darkness (as you recommended and have heard it before). Not sure if this will happen in the 2nd bedroom or if we (hubby willing LOL) can get the mosquito net room hung tonight so I can cover it with black tarp - will leave breathing room, fear not! We have a street lamp on the other side of the fence that burns some kind of CFL I'm sure, which means my ladies have NEVER had a totally dark night.

I just used the FF Trio - Big Bloom throughout the whole grow (get a HUGE bottle - you just go thru it!), every other watering. I added cal-mag during veg I think.

Big Bloom - 1/4 c./gal
Grow Big - 1T/gal

later Tiger Bloom instead of Grow Big - 1 T/gal
Cal-mag ~ 1/2 T/gal

I fed every other watering, and watered about twice a week. I started the nutes at half strength I don't remember when, but soon switched to full strength when I thought the plants seemed a little pale. I switched from veg nutes to bloom somewhere around week 6 or 7 - have to check my notes. Your watering frequency will probably be different where you live, and your strains may want less or more, as you know, but I just went with "keeping it simple" and they didn't seem to mind.

I regret that I never added molasses, even though I *just* purchased some yesterday... That's what I get for draggin my feet on that! LOL I finally made it over to Stick's thread :D

I'm dying to see a picture of Hazel's twin!! Hazel is not yellowing for anything. We'll hang 'em high together! :hot:

If you flush without nitrogen or any salts your plant will yellow, there's no way around that... :eye:

Hellooo :D- Well, I guess it's up to the trich's and your microscope!... and your eye, telling you that the fattening up has pretty much halted... letting the fan leaves go at least should be a safe bet...Follow Muddy's general advise on this...*( I wonder that the flushing tips here are a response to nute' burn, not final clearing....now is certainly not the time for supersaturating the soil, I think...? LOL!)
Thanks for the fert. info, Mz. S'! This will help me gauge and balance my feed regime... Of course, too late for molasses now on the auto's, but the other girls would dig it!.. or rather all the wee 'crobes in the soil, then the girls!
I wish I had my eyeballs at your grow,... the satv. girls, (amnesia, haze) probably should cook a bit longer, but surely some of the others could be taken anytime,... maybe PE girls, Mama B and Sarah?....
Anyway, your wish is granted GF!! :wiz: :poof: 2014.jpg<-- she definitely has her farewell colors flying, and her aroma is complex, kinda variable, so her and a RRF get a couple days more... we'll see!! Still trying to dial in those c/p's... film at 11:00......
001.jpg<-- here's the rack too!

The yellow leaves are what I'm usually looking for to indicate the end of the flowering cycle (always with photos - I'm new to autos), and I can't tell if you are saying I should flush longer and the rest of them will turn, or that I shouldn't have let them yellow? LOL
I agree I should have flushed longer if that's what you meant, and perhaps I can let some of them go a few more days. I think I should have skipped the last feeding for sure - next time I'll pay more attention. If that's not what you meant, well, I think it's a normal part of the process and I'm cool with it... ;)

flush with 2 - 3 X the pot volume... and then feed as normal for that part of the cycle in the plants life. :toke:

I'm feeling you about the flush volume, but why would I feed "as normal" afterwards when I'm flushing that stuff out? I don't think I understand...

:smokebuds: Thanks for your feedback, y'all! :D

Hellooo :D-

Heya, waira - Sweet, that cobra has very nice colors! Way more than Hazel tho... Glad to see she's coming along.

I'm kind of cool with taking some plants that have a few clear trichs - I usually go 50/50 cloudy/amber with the photos - which is WAY overcooked by some standards. I want to try weed that "picks me up" and I understand from all the reading here it's not a horrible thing *snort* I mean, it can be a great thing to pick 'em before they get too stoney. :D

Monday is 12 weeks *already* :wiz: and I just re-read Muddy's advice; actually the trichomes on the plant are just about how he says are ripe, cloudy with just a few clear. I know the guide is about the color of the fan leaves, but I'm totally cool with the way the trichomes are, and kind of excited to try some weed that is less couch-locky... :joint: Maybe not all plants' leaves turn yellow growing outside, or maybe i should have payed attention and flushed sooner and they would have yellowed, but either way I'm getting STOKED about finishing them!

The trichomes have trichomes on their trichomes! LOL Some views look like a field of shimmering diamonds  flatter than the mushroom looking trichomes... No idea what it is, but it's gorgeous, and appears at certain angles on all the ladies thru the pocket microscope. :D

I *do* wish I had flushed earlier though... :bong:

**Aaaah crap - I just hit one of those wrong buttons and lost everything I typed (re: curing etc.) since I last "previewed" the post...

We can discuss that later, I gotta get moving on doing something with these ladies. At least the PEs and AKRs... I REALLY wanna get the others too before they "ripen" too much more... :smoke: Lookin like it'll be the darkened 2nd bedroom for now! LOL

 Good night
