Sounds like getting them jarred with a hygrometer is a more scientific method than bending stems. Even if you do a trial jar the hygrometer will tell you where you're at. If it comes in under 70% you can put the whole thing to curing. Over 70% you hold off on the rest and get the stuff in the jar out to air for a while.

New Grower Better buds be on the dry side or moist side?

Sounds like you've got it figured out. Be sure to post some dried and cured shots of the bud!
Not great news........... Been drying 6-7 days and in the absence of any snap or crispness to the stems (the leaves left clinging to the buds are plenty dry, crisp but when squeezed felt moist but may have confused with tackiness) jarred them anyway. Hygrometer reads 43%, way lower than I ever imagined. In fact in line with the room RH. I can only guess how they evolved to such a low RH. How long do they need to sit in the jar before they register their actual RH? It's only been an hour, but I trial ran a handful of red leaf lettuce to see the response and it got up to 92% and fast.
If it stays 43% what do I have here? I can just leave the jars closed? Weed that can be used but without the nicest characteristics? Should I Boveda them anyway to keep it from turning to dust?

You're fine, I wouldn't be overly concerned about it. If they were dried in that room, I'd expect the RH to be about the same after 6 or 7 days. Your buds will be fine. Jar them, add the Bovida, and vent them daily.
I can get 62% Bovidas by next Wednesday. I can get 72% today. Am I better off using the 72s til next week burping or just waiting for the 62% next wednesday?

I would hold off until you get the 62%. Tobacco can safely be stored at 72% or higher, but with cannabis you risk mold growing inside the buds. If you've overdried the bud then a couple more days until rehydration won't matter anyway. I'm still confused though, since anything at well under 50% should have crispy stems and crumble when you put pressure on it. I'd leave it alone in the jar for a good 24 hours and then see what your reading is. Sounds like you still have moisture in your stems so hopefully with some time it will move into the buds and moisten them back up. It's best if this happens slowly, not with a sudden introduction of a lot of moisture.
If you have truly overdried the bud, it will still vape OK but smoking will be unpleasant. You could do oils and edibles also and the potency should be fine. But overdrying kills the nice aroma and flavor that good cannabis should have. I'm still not sure you are in trouble yet - give it some more time before taking drastic measures.
Got it. Luckily for me I am a vaper at heart so that's right in my wheelhouse. The launchbox for one doesn't hit it off with damp material. The matter of stem moisture, I hope you're referring to the smaller sections surrounded by bud matter cause the greater sections of stem have been largely clipped off.
Nah. RH didn't rise all day and night. Opened them this morning anyway. They're plenty sticky, what I may have confused for moisture. And the stem snap? A method of dubious nature. It may have gone from pure bend to a not so crisp action the result being more a split of part of the stem while another section was still pliable. Anyway, any advice for how to manage these in the jars now appreciated.
BTW, the other plant which is tipping in a little higher, around 51%. I didn't measure that one till today on account I couldn't get the other hygrometer calibrated to agree with the other 2 (I have 2 Xikar and the Accutemp that was in the tent). That one reads 56% but I know it's 5% too high. Very tricky business this.
First grow. Learned a ton. Next time I will try to do better drying and other stuff.
Wednesday I'll get them Boveda'ed up for what it's worth.

I think you'll be fine once you get the Boveda in there to rehydrate. Since you primarily vape the only downside will be a loss of flavor and smell. Probably still be better than what a lot of street dealers are selling. Hopefully over the coming weeks in the jar, things will improve quite a bit. It just depends on how much chlorophyll has been locked into the bud and how much can escape with more curing. Worst case scenario you can look into water curing to smooth things out.
