Extraction BHO Discussion Thread

Heres a quick list of Bare essentials you will need to get started for processing BHO safely.

Most important the Safety equipment!
-Outdoor Location
-Fire Extinguisher
-Face Mask that covers nose and mouth
-Eye Protection
(Guys this should be a absolute Minimum)

Extraction equipment
-Minimum 5mm Thick Glass tube or a Stainless Steel Tube
- Non Bleached Coffee filters or a Stainless Steel Micron screen i like a 120-150 for the end of the tube ( i use 2 coffee filters and 1 120 micron screen)
-Over mitt or Leather Gloves Used to hold the Tube
-Pipe Clamp to or zip ties to hold the Screen on. (a quarter or flathead to tighten clamp)
-Something to use to pack your material in your tube (it should have a firm pack non crazy tight or loose)
-2 Pyrex dishes one larger then the other (this way you can blast into one dish and have the other dish with Warm water to hot water bath)
-Butane (try to get U.K made butane i.e newport luceine stay away from Korean Tane)
-Parchment paper to scrape your BHO once hot water bathed and reaction stops scrape from your Pyrex and transfer to parchment
-Razor blades or a Spackle tool (find one with out a clear film over the metal) to scrape your bho
-Vacuum Chamber with a Vacuum pump (2 stage pumps run a little smoother you can find a nice 3 micron pump with chamber for around $100-$200 on Ebay.
- A heat source to purge your oil while in chamber
i.e. Nuwave or a griddle (you can use cermanic tiles to help buffer the heat to a stable temp)
- Infrared Temp Gun

I may be missing some things im pretty high im sure il add some things

Awwwwwww sh!t, here it goes! By the end of the summer, I'll be whipping up BHO batches! Thanks for the list WeedMan! This is gonna be a fun ride!

This is going great.

Weedman, you are da man. Nice basic list there. I am glad you put in the safety glasses. Especially with glass tubes. Also, I would add long sleeve shirt, and if you have long hair, tie the hair back too.

Vacuum Purge = This is the more expensive way to go. However, you CAN purge you goo by scraping it in criss-cross patterns until it stops bubbling.

It takes a long time. We would scrap on and off for about 24 hours (with a 7 hour sleep brake, lol0> But it works.

I've seen something that looks like a small oven in an article about BHO. What would that be?

Those are Vacuum ovens probably made by Across International. Theres a few other company's out there who make them but they are the most recognized.

These vacuum ovens use the same principle as the Chambers except the heat source is built into the system.

This allows you to control temps better and purge many different runs at once as there are multiple shelfs for these units.

So all in all yes they are expensive but if your producing alot of product it will save time for sure and just hold a steady temp.

You will still need a Vacuum pump to connect to your oven

Hey All,

I know it is not bho, but it should be here I think, cuz the nature of making ISO is also dangerous

We made some ISO.

We did this outside until the alcohol was all gone.

This was the third time we have done this. It came out well I think, it is dark amber, and it is consistant with stuff I have purchase in a dispensary

I got about 5 grams out of about two ounces. Now I can work on a better yeild, and good strains for hash.

We purged this for about a day by scraping and warming in a water bath.

It stood in the ISO for about an hour and fifteen minutes.

I will cut it down by a 15 minutes, to see if I can get it a bit more clear.

The darkness comes from Chlorophyl breaking down in the vegetation. I was told this starts to happen after about 45 minutes. But being me, I decided to define my own process.

Hope you like the pictures.

Eek I've done quite a few qwiso runs and your gonna get dark gooey unless you get the iso on the bud and off in as short a time as possible and freeze the iso.
30 seconds is as long as I shake mine then drain it through a mesh screen and then through my 6 chamber coffee filter and pop bottle tower and the the iso comes out clear with just a hint of gold and as the iso evaporates it gets milky then a golden color and the final product shatters like glass

I use 91% cause that's all they have round here

And I highly suggest one of these

That looks awesome brother! Do they sell iso-produced concentrates like this in dispensaries? I've made it like you have many times before and run into that same, super gooey black/green goo. I'll have to try that quick-shake and tower filter like sniper suggested. sniper, two quick questions:

1. Your tower, is it just 6 coffee filters spread throughout? All bunched together?

2. Do you do second runs on your plant material after the 30-second shake and pour? Or do you discard it right away? Is whatever the iso going to pull in a 30 second shake going pretty much all it's going to pull off the plant material?

Do you guys use Amazon? 99% isopropyl for $7 (prime even lol!) $6 non-prime. Right to your door!

I'm going to post up some of the gear I bought for my first BHO run; I'll ask you experts and gurus and post up my setup and equipment before touching anything!

thanks Sniper, good information my Friend.

I will try that, minus your coke bottle thing.

You got any pics?

-----Edit-----

Thirty seconds and not minutes?

Just checkin'
