Lighting BlackStar The Manual

Just received my 100W Lighthouse Hydro BlackStar LED panel and thought I'd do the right thing and post a quick pic comparason between what the gotham_products ebay stores pics show and what I got. It would appear they have updated them from a foil backing of the diodes like my 50W'er to the white hard backing like on the 135W and up. With the 135W running 3 fans and the 100W running one, it makes me think they are not far apart in strength, time will tell.. she BRIGHT though, I will say that!

nice pick up bro! i just had the same one installed about 1 week + or so ago in my case.

i didnt realize the difference until you pointed it out -- definitely looks like the 135w background! good eye!

cant wait to see how they perform

Got my BlackStar 500 W on Wednesday, dropped that bad boy in yesterday. I have 5 autoflowers at about 5 weeks now, keeping the BS about 18-20 inches away from the plants. i also have a photo in there at about 2.5 weeks.

I also have 1 75w 2700k CFL over the photo and 1 Tek2 PLL T5 lamp (110 watts 10k lumen) as side lighting, 1 3000k bulb and 1 6500k bulb at 5k a piece.

I hopppppeeee to get 1.5 oz per plant, if possible :)

Reading up on the led lights and i'm in info overload! Looking to stick a toe in before I take a total plunge in relighting the greenroom. Looking at the blackstar 240 for the plants I have going now under a cfl panel in a 30"x30"x 6' space. What would be my best option to take plants from 3-4 weeks old to finish? would the flowering panel be ok for veg and flower? Lookin to make a move quick as the cfl panel is heating the space up to much even with ac running and i'm having to leave the door open which isn't going to work with the smell increasing daily.

Thanks killakill, think i'm grabbing one this week and replacing the cfl panel, the heat is kickin my tail in that small space and things are getting to smelly to leave the door open too much longer.I seen themon amazon for $278 with free ship.

Hello Blackstar Pros ;D
glad i found this thread.. i have a 240 UV i will be using in a 30x30 and i had a couple questions about Mylar or white reflective placement.
would it burn the girls if i put Mylar across the top of the pots reflecting up into the bottom of the canopy leaves?
Im trying to maximize my light the best i can in that space.
also a second question,, is mylar really the best thing i can use?
my grow is in a fiberglass shower stall :) Thank you for your time.. and peace be with you :smokebuds:

supp phoenix lol Im followin this and yours for my 30x30 too. hope you dont mind.. didnt want yah to think i was tailin yah :smokebuds:

i think im going to try to do some thing like this in the future. how is the heat? do u need ac(i dont need to w/cfls) or do u just live some where cold(vent air in)? my grow is in my basment where it never gets above 72 farinhight. i dont wont to run hids bc honistly im afraid the bulb will blow up in the night and kill all my plants or worse burn down my house.

I had the led diode blowout in the 135watt UV also but at the time could not afford to send it back and its long since out of warranty.

Still happy with it and gonna pick up another this payday then pick up a couple 150 cfls for sidelights. I was totally going to go HPS cause its cheap initially but running it for 2-3 months would be 70-80 us dollars so getting another led and some flouro just seems smarter if your worried about power bill.

The UV is not blown. UV light cannot be seen by humans, and the "burning" around the LED in not from a short circuit, its from the UV actually working and burning the foil around the LED. Since they are soldered in series, if a led blows, chance is half the light goes out. the BS has 2 PU feeding half the LEDS each, so the other half would still work.
