I've never experienced this before. As a breeder, I've had excellent luck, if you will, producing strong viable seed. Yesterday, drinking my morning coffee and looking at depth with several hybrids (daily ritual...coffee and perusing plants), I noticed bore holes in the seeds, yet leaves bud intact. You can only imagine my dismay.

Checked a neighboring plant of same genetics and discovered a worm about 3/4" long, light green. Of course I obliterated it with thumb and index finger, squeezing the ever living life out of it. Now I'm looking for any other worm infestations. So far, none. These 2 plants were segregated from the rest of my seed garden.

Question: Any clue of what it is (the worm) and how to prevent in future?

I've used tabasco sauce/water to spray...might need to do that prophylactically.

Any clue, please respond.

sounds similar to corn silk worms.. which do go down and eat the seeds on corn... dont see why they wouldnt "do canna" too... lol

build up your soil nutrition to make your plants resistant. specifically TRACE elements.
