If you have the funds to spend and feel like getting it then get it. I don't knock users for trying stuff and my local hydro guy has one o the larger ones you talked about in his shop and if I wasn't such a profit/loss person right now I would get them to try but honestly my setup has almost paid for itself now. In fact I'm buying one last panel to make it 4 and pull 12 ladies every 4 weeks using a seedling/veg chamber separate with t5's for the first 4 weeks. Get a lower wattage and more of them as apposed to using one big monster. Didn't mean to sound like I was bashing your taste in manufactures I'm just an economic kind of guy. I'd rather spend that extra on nutes and puff up my buds that way.

Not invisible, I just have no answers for ya but it seems Tshirt does...

I'm definitely on a budget TSN, and sounds like you've got it dialed in pretty well so maybe I'll pick one up next time I buy lights....

wow the price of the blackstar leds are way to much for me when you can get a 400w hps system for 169 tax and shipping included it just doesnt make sence to me due to fact of proven yeilds of hps. dont get me wrong love the concept of leds but a watt is a watt no matter how its used. i want to get into the led scene but the price is still way to high.

Sorry, didn't see that...

I've had it between 18" & 4' & yes it was the lite the, 1st one the mfg said it was & gave me a new redesigned one. Stiil same problem, this last time I kept the lite at 2'.

You've done very well w/ your led btw.

Nice thanks for dropping a name, it's always nice to say someone referred you when it's a first time customer situation...
Aslo I can't remember where, but I saw on AFN that someone got ratted on by a sales rep at Blackstar, hoping it was just a fluke as it seems it is...
Think it was Hydrogrowled that you seen posted by me, unaware of any thing from Black star.

Huh, well my memory ain't the best, lol, guess I'll stay away from them... Thanks Jackal!

yah but on the up and up your argument doesn't hold water. if you have not used one you cant comment on the watt for watt ratio of PAR units and not this trashy lumens everyone and there mom is trying to peddle..... hps is hot and honestly inefficent as far as PAR lighting throw off. most of its power is consumed with heat which is another reason why people switch. 400w hps is HOT no matter how you cut it vs 400w of drawn led wattage. I'm running over 400w of led in there and the yields are great and will likely double once i get my new nutrients dialed in. HPS is superior for taller applications and non autos to be honest. I want to add some plasma for side lighting as ive seen 100w units for 120-140 that beat out PAR on even led but the heat is more noticeable since the ballast is included in the light and is hard to vent off. watt for watt they are not all the same at all.

sorry to see that..... that is obscene then.... they must be using EXTREMELY narrow lenses for the leds. you need a proper blend of angles to keep from light bleaching. thanks for the info so that i can log it in my notes :D

you know menaice i have one lying around and im sure it would be a great idea but as far as side lighting to me the cheaper the better as its only supplemental. led seems overkill for the shorter plants...... might be better honestly to place a few cfl's in there or some t5's turned sideways. remember cfl bulbs also have the ballast attached and will produce a decent amount of heat which is one of the main reasons why people get leds to begin with.

i have used led like i said i do have a 45w grow panel it works ok but i like tall and skinny plants lol so i have to have good penatration, ya i know they are hot but i can get a 3 400hps for 299 from HTG supply. i dont want to argue about which is better, i was just saying they cost way too much for me and my lil budget. but if they come down alot then i might have to look into them more. i would love to have one with a lil more color to add to the hps`s i have. till they get cheapper ill stick with the hps, but again thats just my :2cents:
