All I've heard is Blackstar, Blackstar, Blackstar...
That's what I'm getting.
240watt flowering model.
The guys will chime in on this, I'm a new grower so don't count om my advice but you're in the right place.

I have a small DR-60 Tent which is Approx 2'X2'X5', five weeks into my 1st grow (LowRyder AK47 Auto) under about 220 watts of CFL I've noticed some stretching and the center cola is about 4" above the top of the rest of the plant which prevents me from keeping my CFL's within two inches of the top.

Anyway, with an eye to my next grow I started Goggling LED's and think this one might be perfect for my application, but the whole LED thingy seems a lot more tricky once you scratch the surface and I'm seeking the advice of experienced LED growers.

The light I am seeking an opinion on is this... Diamond Series LEDs by Advanced LED Lights. There appears to be an independent review on the web (not sure if links are allowed)

Since I'm only growing for my own use my goal is directed more at superior quality over quantity.

Any help would be appreciated - RF

I also have done quite a bit of research before I purchased my magnum plus 357 led. Advanced led is not on the cutting edge of led development but they see it better to follow other companies and find ways to make there technology cheaper. That being said they are also a very hard company to find any info on about who builds there product and basic info about the company. I personally have explored purchasing there led but just wasn't pleased with the responses I got back from them as a company. What price point are you looking to be at and what the exact amount of area the led will be covering?

Wow that magnum plus 357 led is some fixture. My needs are much smaller, I'm growing in 4 sq-ft, but if I'm successful with my current plan grows, then in a year or so I'd probably move up to 6 sq-ft of growing space.

In regards to advanced LED's it appears you are not alone, the reviewer over at LED Grow Lights Review didn't like them either. On the other hand, he does really like Penetrator Generation X lights, so much so that at times it almost appeared to be more of a sales pitch instead of a review. Still, I'd like to see a grow journal report using the Penetrator 84X-PRO in a similar space as mine.

If the 'Real Deal' means spending $1,000 then I'll continue to wait.

Just so you know my 357 is only good for a 4x4 grow area. The gen x led's are a good product and there are several grows on here using them. If you decide to go led it isn't going to be a cheap investment but growing quality product never is!

I believe Advanced was one of several companies distributing a particular brand of Chinese imports. The Diamond series looks like an upgrade to their line. I looked at them before I bought my 240 watt GrowLEDHydro. I use it in a slightly bigger area, 2 x 2.5 and have gotten very good results from it. But it's a $750 light. If you're on a budget a 240 watt Blackstar will do very nicely in your space. For the money they are a good value and do a good job.

Yeah, those Advance Diamond LED's are sure slick, almost had me hooked. No one seems to have issues with the 240w Blackstar which is what I'll probably go with.

Heres a good link to a guy using both a 240w blackstar and a 240w GLH panel,he run both panels in a tester and the GLH pulled 245w and the blackstar came in a 133w,now Thats less than i thought (160w ) but he also goes on to say he also used a light metre to check there outputs and the blackstar put out 85% of light compared to GLH,which is good considering the wattage difference..heres the link it goes on a few pages http://bubbleponics.com/forum/showt...240W-side-by-side-with-Grow-LED-Hydro-240W..i i use blackstar myself and im happy with it,and many others do use them with great results,i do like the performance for the price.i just think there should be some clarity on products and people should know about specs when parting with big money.

Great grow journal link, thanks. I'm still a bit unsure on which LED to purchase, but it was the trials & tribulations Supergravy was having growing soil-less under LED's that kept my rapt attention. For right now until I gain more experience I'm sticking with soil & CFL's, understanding all the while that my yields will be lower... Just hoping it smokes well.

There are 5 or 6 of us here growing soil less with LEDs. The main issues have been identified, specifically cal/mag deficiencies and some P deficiencies later in flower. I always recommend anyone going this route to keep some cal/mag and PK13.14 on hand.

Hi Muddy,

I've already got some AirPots on order for my next grow (sometime mid-February) and I would like to attempt a soil less grow under LED's and was considering using 100% Foxfarm's Light Warrior as the mix, what do you think?

As far as LED's go, after rereading the specs on all of the higher end fixtures it appears I'm stuck on the 3-watt version of the Penetrator 84X-PRO, hopefully over the next month I'll get conformation on my gut feel through reading some grow journals, I'm in no hurry.

BTW I'm so new that I'll have to research PK13.14 before I put the cart in front of the horse.

This place is a storehouse of knowledgeable folks willing to share.
