Placed my order today for two Blackstar 240s. They will be going into my outdoor grow box so now I'm totally LED. Should have them by Friday, which is perfect as I'll have plants read to go under it by then.

If anyone intends to buy Blackstars from Gotham Hydro, call them instead of placing the order on line. By calling they gave me an additional $25 off of each unit.

Nice onemate - you do great things with LEDS so looking forward to seeing what you can do when you get more!!!
We dont seem to have the range (nor prices) of good leds here in Aus - even this http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/300W-LED...Seed_Starting_Hydroponics&hash=item415d12dbbb is still just one watt per light but as the technology becomes available here its definetely an avenue I want to explre. Am half tempted to get a Blackstar sent over from US to here and get a socket adapter *when I can afford one that is) but not sure if postage would be too huge and in regards to warranty if something goes wrong etc etc

Thanks for the kind words. Yes, LEDs are still an emerging technology. The one you listed is 2 year old + and pretty worthless for growing. Give Gotham Hydro a call and inquire on the shipping. They were very friendly and helpful. I think the units only weight about 8 lbs. so the shipping may not be too outrageous.

Wish I would have read this before I ordered my Blackstar 240w yesterday lol! I am going to use the 240w panel in a 1.7ft x 3ft tent, so doing the 40watt/sqft calculation I should be ok. Still am going to toss in a few 6500k cfl's for supp. lighting

meh they need the money right now though..... they just got hit with that hurricane and when i ordered they lost a TON of inventory so please go support them recover from this tragic loss of inventory.

I used to live not to far away from where Gotham is, and right near the same river, the Ramapo. When I called to place the order I asked if they had gotten hit. They said the Ramapo River crested 4.5' above it's previous high and they had a foot of water in their warehouse. Fortunately the LEDs were in a different warehouse, on higher ground.

I work in the floral industry and spend my working day talking to shops all over the country. Suffern where gothem is located isnt out of the woods yet. According to flower shops in that area the river is still rising and some areas and bridges are now closed...just an fyi... Now does seem to be the time to purchase that light i need, the hubby finsihed my new grow room.
