Hi Guys, 1st time grower here seeking advice

Details

-2x4x5 tent
-5gal pots (FFOF + DE + perlite)
-2w into flower (Crit Purple and Blue Fruit Auto's)

okay, so i was running two reflector burple lights. One 300w(130w) vipar and some off brand 600w (180w wall) my cheapo 600w just blew its done

now i would say i only have 250-300$ ish to spend a light i want something i can build on and since i am running in a 2x4x5 tent i need something i can rig for height as well .

i was thinking about getting 2 cobs from cobshop.net and having my vipar help . this grow is only 2 plants right now but, i would like to get 4 plants on my next grow , will this be enough light ? i would be super freaking happy if i was pulling close to 1.5oz + a plant dry .

Any suggestions would be awesome just let me know

You need a max of 320 watts at 40 watts per square foot. If you're interested in building it I suggest the bridgelux version under the 2x4 grow tent section.

I also suggest using an HLG 320h 42a to reach the 40 watts per square-foot for a little bit more money. If you shop around you can get cheaper than his build depending on your location. You also will need

C2G 53406 18 AWG Universal Power Cord - NEMA 5-15P to IEC320C13, TAA Compliant, Black (12 Feet, 3.65 Meters) Amazon product ASIN B002O0KM6G
So you can power your lights. I'd suggest a multi meter, electrical pliers also I'd suggest 1x 1/8 aluminum flat plate if the extruded heat sink is out of budget.

Quantum boards are another option. A 4 pack of QB132's or 120's would also keep you in the 30-40 watt range and the price would definitely remain below $300. I mentioned the strips finest because you would get much more light coverage from them than the quantum boards but you're going to spend more.

I wouldn't suggest anything but these especially in your budget range. I don't have any non DIY solutions though.

Thanks for the advice and info! So i found this https://growerslights.com/collectio...lighting-group-260-watt-quantum-board-led-kit

its a qb 260 watt + my 130 burple ( i will try and get a hlg 100 later use the burple only for side light) .= 390w

A few questions , whats the life span on something like this?
how much heat does it put out if ran around 80%, is it close to the cheapo lights i been using or better ?
HLG website didnt have these in stock anymore , going from this supplier is this a rip off or you know any other website that has this and pre built/tested that are cheaper?

Go with the diy for better light spread. You will only need one of those options I listed because the light coverage is more uniform. You won't need more than 40 watts per square-foot/320 watts in a 2x4 unless you plan to use c02.

The data sheets will tell you but I think they are in excess of 50,000 hours. I don't think they get very hot compared to LECs and HPS.

I would check HLG for their official distributors list. I don't know much about the pre builds but I know mars hydro has some quantum boards like lights they've released. Otherwise HLG, California light works I hear, or DIY build. I haven't heard anything bad about Big Smo's cobs I just would personally prefer quantum board styles to cobs.
