What size are those pots actually?
I can't really help, as your mix is quite a bit different from mine and has lots of ingredients I have no experience with
But perhaps in more general terms:
In anything under 10G, you're going to have to recycle, the smaller the oftener.
Also, what I'm finally getting from my head into my fingertips with the recipe I'm using is the constant of
cycling - I think we have to keep adding small amounts of nutrition, a chopped leaf here, a bit of neem there, a small handful of straw, all
small amounts as mostly happen in nature, but continuously.
When you rely on nutrient additions in larger amounts (leading to the "cooking" phase), and then go water only directly, those microbial foods actually get - eaten! (no duh, right! but seriously, I had to
get that along the way - the hard way of course pmsl)
Another thing I read somewhere here but not sure how recently, you don't water very often? smaller amounts more often. really keeping it nice and moist (but still not soggy) Could be a good thing the way "hard and brittle" sounds.... also kind of sounds like needing more aeration, like biochar or pumice?
In any case, those pots with the lil ones in em are eye candy to me!
And that harvest looks beautiful too!
Bravo!
