Well I’m certainly going to reuse it, but it definitely needs some TLC before hand. And the cover crop is still great so it’s got some sustainability just not as much as I would like. Lol
What size are those pots actually?
I can't really help, as your mix is quite a bit different from mine and has lots of ingredients I have no experience with
But perhaps in more general terms:
In anything under 10G, you're going to have to recycle, the smaller the oftener.
Also, what I'm finally getting from my head into my fingertips with the recipe I'm using is the constant of cycling - I think we have to keep adding small amounts of nutrition, a chopped leaf here, a bit of neem there, a small handful of straw, all small amounts as mostly happen in nature, but continuously.
When you rely on nutrient additions in larger amounts (leading to the "cooking" phase), and then go water only directly, those microbial foods actually get - eaten! (no duh, right! but seriously, I had to get that along the way - the hard way of course pmsl)

Another thing I read somewhere here but not sure how recently, you don't water very often? smaller amounts more often. really keeping it nice and moist (but still not soggy) Could be a good thing the way "hard and brittle" sounds.... also kind of sounds like needing more aeration, like biochar or pumice?

In any case, those pots with the lil ones in em are eye candy to me!
And that harvest looks beautiful too!
Bravo! :headbang:

Thank you so much for this input! I really appreciate this! I love hearing everyone’s different ideas. Good to know man! I’m thinking more waterings w/ less water will be the way to go, especially with these airpots. And I’m in 3 gallon airpots for this grow. But went to 5 gallon for my next grow. Maybe I will incorporate some more top dressings throughout the plants life cycle as well into next grow to really keep the soil life flourishing.

Thanks again @calliandra !!!!

Sounds good, and you're very welcome!
Yeah so with that pot size sooner or later...

ALTHOUGH!
I only realized later that actually, the smaller of the 2 CQs I have going, she's growing in a 15L pot (~ 4 gallons) and that soil is in its 3rd round.

After the first round (in which it proved too weak to sustain the plant throughout), it got topdressed with a mix of vermicompost, pumice, & coco coir (in 1:1:1 proportions to refill the pot) + topdress of kelp meal and pulverized eggshells (it's what I had at hand).
After the second round (so right when the CQ seedling got transplanted into it, despite nute problems the previous plant had had in flower again), it got 2L of VC topdressed, plus 1 tablespoon each of neem, kelp, eggshell, rockdust, malted barley powder, and 2 Tbsp of oat bran for the fungal side.
And since then it's been getting the regular feedings per my new feeding regimen (adding amendments in small quantities in rotation every few days) as conditioning.
Looking good for now, though the smaller CQ is visibly lighter than the large one. The ultimate test will come in midflower, when the nute problems usually start cropping up - so we've yet to see how this pans out ;)

The caveat here is that the soil in my small pot, though it did dry out during the previous grow's end-of-life, was kernelly in consistency, it didn't do anything comparable to your description of yours. So I couldn't say "go ahead and do this with yours and you'll be fine". :wiz:
My point is just that even in 3G you could be, and there are quite a few possibilities for tending to soil even in small pots to be able to keep it going for a few rounds :D
Cheers!

Day 67:

Haze 2.0 will get the chop in 3-4 days! And Green Crack not far behind that..Green Crack ended up swelling more than I thought she would. And she's got a ton of buds!!

I will push SDH as much as I can. Shes got smaller buds to, but buds still smell and look great!!

Awesome grow. Can't believe how well you've done on your 1st organic run. Congrats. :slap:
Hey thanks a lot Sky.. it’s not the best Grow, but not the worst either. Still learning and going to try some new things on my new babies I have going now. I appreciate you staying along for the ride!!

All girls have been chopped!! I could of probably let SDH go a little longer but too me it looked like she could no longer uptake nutrients and I believe it was the soil not providing enough nutrients for the plant her size and life cycle. But still got some good buds off of her. I checked the trichs and she was ready. All girls are either being dried or cured!!!

The new girls look great... one of them has had some discoloration since she sprouted. It’s not a deficiency or issue to my knowledge. She’s super healthy and growing. So we’ll see how she turns out.
