Can anyone identify this?

yeah, as mentioned, I think it's an internal pathogen,.... let us know if they get info from a nursery/expert on it!
I’m pushing them to do an autopsy. I want pictures of the inside main stem and roots.

:thanks:Thanks for the help everyone. As I get more info and hopefully pics I will post them here.

They told me they are mmj legal so they can take a sample to the U.H. ag dept. Hopefully they get back to me with that info.

What is that growing out of the top of the stalk? It looks like a thorn.
I have no idea unfortunately they are in Hawaii so, as much as I would like to this winter weekend, I can’t go look at this directly and I would love to see this up close.

Well for what it’s worth there are a couple fruit tree people that claim it looks like Botrytis Cinerea. Said it’s killed quite a few of his fruit trees. Another is a greenhouse mgr and swears it looks like scales. I’ve never seen either in trees or Cannabis so I’m still waiting on the trip to the university.

..yeah, pics are hard to diagnose by alone, but I'm still hedging toward an infection,.. that scarification must be tell-tale for it! Scales, no way, they could easily be dislodged and verified if so, but I know exactly why the guy said that... I've seen infections almost that bad = :nono:.... very often though, such an infestation would have ants attending, many scale spp. exude that "honey dew" liquid to bribe the ants for protection,... that usually makes a gooey mess at some point! No poops, molt castings, debris, etc. present either....
