Has anyone wired this to there fan to control the speed ?

I’ve been reading on another site that this has been connected to the live wire of an rvk fan and it has been used to control fan speed without any humming noise.

Can anyone tell me if it’s safe to do and which fan I can use it on? I want a fan speed controller with no “Hum”

There are probably good reasons that the simplest, cheapest, adjustable line voltage (120 volts in US) light dimmers/faders are not used for fan or other motor control (and aren't used with LEDs/COBs either).

I recall that the best speed adjustment switches for good-sized fans/motors are variacs/variable autotransformers.

Ive been looking at an smscom fan speed control and thinking about getting one of them.

I’ve got another question now though......

Can anyone tell me how I can safely control my LEDS with a timer and use a fan speed controller ?
