I was advised to get Canna Terra Professional this time round as i used cheap B&Q soil last time round and i suffered with high PH. As CTP contained lime i believed that would buffer the soil PH to a neutral 7.0 if i did have issues. As i outlined in a different thread i have been having issues a while now, since making that thread matters have gotten worse more so on one plant.

I decided to flush the worse of the two plants with two buckets of PH adjusted water. The first bit of runoff was 6.1, after the first bucket had been put through at 6.5 the runoff still read 6.1. I then changed the second bucket to 6.8 to see if it would raise it a lil and it made no difference what so ever.

I investigated the bag of CTP and it does contain lime but the PH they list for this soil is 6.0 and even advises you to water with 6.0 water.

So question time, Is that soil sold with a variety of PH levels and i have the wrong one? or am i making a mistake some where along the lines?

Also if the bag says 6.0 do i have any chance in changing it to 6.5 to save my plants this far into flowering?

Thanks in advance for your help and advice.....

So it seems after some research because the Canna Terra Pro is stabalized to a ph of 6.0 they recomend putting in 5.8-6.2 adjusted water, not the 6.5-6.8 i have been putting in.

I flushed one plant with 6.5-6.8 tonight before doing this research, i will flush the other tomorrow with 6.1 and see if either fixes what i am hoping is lock out.

Low pH seems to be an issue with that soil. You are the third person here recently to have the same problem. Flushing alone isn't going to effect the pH enough. It's very likely you will need to add some additional dolomite lime to your soil to successfully raise the pH. In fact, I would avoid doing any more flushing as it can be stressful on the plants. When you do flush you need to run 3 times the pot size on pH balanced water. So if you're in a 3 gallon pot, it would be 9 gallons per pot.

Their recommendation of feeding at 5.8 - 6.2 is too low for growing mj and the low pH will eventually result in a nutrient lockout situation from the low pH. Shoot for soil pH of 6.4 - 6.5.

Thanks for your reply a question if i may.

CTP already contains some lime so will adding more lime deffinatly raise the ph?

Yes. Apparently they add enough to bring it up some but not enough for our purposes.

excellent thanks again for your time bud. i have bought and added the lime to both pots a few minutes ago. i will keep the thread up dated with the plants progress.

I have about 25L of this stuff left that i was going to chuck, if this works well i may just use it up on next attempt.

On a side note how do i like something on this site, i ask as i see i have recieved some but can't see a button for it and for some reason i can't add rep.

The Like button is on the right side of the post, just above the grey bar at the bottom. You won't see it on your own posts, only on ones others post.

Got it thanks. that tiny little text is very missable mabey a colored background would make it stand out.

Muddy i cannot thank you enough, i added the lime lastnight then looked in this morning and the worst of the two hasn't gotten any worse. The less damaged of the two has started producing frost on the sugar leaves, i will need to get some PH strips to test PH or wait till next feeding but i am sure that lime has made a major difference.

Thanks again :D

Lime is slow acting so I doubt it is having any effect yet. It usually takes about 2 weeks before you start to see any results.

If you can afford it, get a good digital pH tester instead of the strips. They are much more accurate and easier to use.
