I'm losing my mind(again) trying to decide on a light...
I was in your shoes 9 months ago. I was struggling to understand so much -- I wanted to keep the lighting simple. t5ho is good. Not much to learn. Run a 4- or 6-tube unit in a 2' deep tent. In veg, do about 20% 2700k and 80% 6500k (color temperature tubes). Reverse those proportions in flower.
I've switched to LED, but there's a lot to learn. Also, LEDs seem to cause more calmag deficiency. And, they make it difficult to look at your plants and see a problem as it starts. You'll have to keep a CFL (clip-on socket and reflector) to view your plants in natural light -- and make a conscious effort to view them this way. As you gain experience, you'll see better under LED light. But, as a newbie, you'll definitely want natural light. Using t5ho eliminates that minor burden.
I grew
my first auto <<link under 4 t5ho on top, 2 t5ho angled at 45 degrees in the back, and a couple 40 watt'ish warm CFLs on the side. I did pretty well. But, I didn't feel it penetrated enough during flower. (The lack of penetration was much more noticeable with photo sensitives which grew twice as tall.).
You could start with T5ho in veg. Buy a 90-135w UFO to supplement in flower. Go full LED after that. Although it might sound like a waste to buy stuff you imagine you won't use in 6 months, it's good to have some backup lights if/when your LED fails.
