hi guys im going to pick up a 125w cfl at the weekend, i was wondering what type/make should i go for? and also if anyone has any links to good deals with cfl it would be much appreciated

I'd advise you to get a 250W red-spectrum (flowering) bulb and use it all the way through with autos.

I've seen some now that are dual spectrum, but I'm not convinced they are worth it. Get a 6400k light, you can't go wrong with that. Brand is not so important, 80% of them are actually all made by the same company. Wattage to use depends on the size of the space you have, any of the from 105-250 are good. Many of the one bigger than 125 watts need an adapter if you plan to use them in a standard light socket. Find your best deal and go for it! :Sharing One:

Hey bud ...don't bother with the cheap ebay ones !...they wont last a month .I grabbed a maxibright from local shop & there much better quality :Sharing One:

Sometimes you can get a deal at Home Depot,Lowes. If not check on line.

thanks guys maxibright seems to be the better option, i will have a look around and see what i can pick up :peace:

Here in the US, CFLs have gotten much cheaper due to the new laws going into effect banning incandescent bulbs. Definitely some deals to be had a big box stores. I have not used dual spectrum but had great success with 6500k all the way through veg and flower. Switching to 2700k didn't add to the growth and if anything slowed it down. Makes sense if you think about autos finishing outdoors in the middle of summer, rather than late fall like photos. I give them the equivalent of summer sun from beginning to end rather than trying to replicate autumn conditions with 2700k. But everybody has their own experiences with this so your mileage may vary. :smoke:

Another very good make is Plug and Grow - plugandgrow.co.uk, i love their motto - stick it where the sun dont shine :)
