Does anyone know of any decent priced screen printing screens that I can use for dry sift? I have been looking online and the screens that they sell for printing are dramatically cheaper than screens labeled for dry sift. Are they the same thing? Do they put better screen material on the ones made specifically for dry sift? Or is it the same shit?

It appears that most (or many?) screens >1 sq. ft sold for sifting have aluminum vs. wood frames. A relative who ran a screen printing business said he rarely ever used aluminum frames, using cheaper wood-framed screens even for the finest/precision printing jobs.

Other factors that might be different among framed screens include the quality/performance of the individual threads (e.g, smooth vs. frayed); the tightness of the screen; do the threads stay in place after sifting or stretch (keep consistent parting sizing); resist the friction and physical wear of dry sifting; etc. It seems likely that cheaper printing screens (that work well enough having liquid ink pushed through their openings) might not be optimal for sifting.
