I now have a Cherry Bomb from Bomb Seeds and a Nirvana Bubblelicious, both autos, sitting happily in my grow space, after my last run got eaten by gnat larvae...

I have now hopefully rid my space of these damn critters, and will only have to worry about whatever stupid shit I myself might do to these plants... :)

Over watering and the resulting ph issues have been my biggest problems with earlier tries.

Currently I'm using a 250W dual spectrum CFL, but I'm waiting for a 6500K 300W CFL to arrive, and I have a 2700K 300W CFL on hand for flowering.

Temps are a bit on the high side at about 31-33 C (87.8 - 91.4 F) and with the humidifier going rh% is at about 50 on average. I have one oscillating table fan in the space too. Slurry test showed my soil to have a ph of 6.5. Containers are square 7 liter (1.8 gal.) pots.
For nutrients I have BioBizz Grow, Bloom and Topmax.

Fingers crossed for a less troublesome run this time.. :)

:Gold:good start! cant wait to see what comes next.. was curious about that cherry bomb..im pullin up a seat:smoke:

Yeah, I'm excited about the Cherry Bomb too..! I've grown the bubbly before, so I'm more stoked about the new girl... :)

I was impressed with the germination time for the CB too, I dropped her in a shotglass of water in the early afternoon Saturday, and she cracked in just over 6 hours and got planted the same evening..!

I've been checking out all the bomb seeds and Cherry Bomb is the one I would grow. Good luck

Yup, curious about the cherry.. I'm a sucker for everything cherry, so I was sold on the name alone...

Just hope I will actually get some decent plants this time, as opposed to the stunted messes I usually end up with, heheh...

I swear I had better results with my first couple of grows than I've had with my last five or six...

Edit: And I will refrain from indulging in all the numerous jokes that could be made from cherries, "popping" beans and whatnot... :twist:

Good luck with your grow.
I just picked up some cherry bomb seeds from bomb seeds as well for my next round soo I'm def sub'd up for ur grow! Will be nice to have a view of things to come! Passing some bud luck ur way!
Cheers

Day 3 now and things seem to be going well. My last grow was in effect already over by this point, due to gnats.....

I have still found a total of 3 gnats over the last days, but between flypapers, drier medium and my fan on full speed I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they will soon be unable to breed..

In any case I don't see any crawling all over my soil like last time...

The Bubblelicious was last out of the soil, but she now seems to grow a bit more vigorously than the Cherry Bomb, her first two leaves are slightly larger.

Their color also seem to differ a bit, the Cherry Bomb is a darker, more bluish-green, while the Bubbelicious is a beautiful bright green.

I had to put my fingers there, because my stupid phone only wanted to set the focus at the soil and blurr the plant, heheh..

No problems yet, and also no water yet, except for about a shotglass for each, late on day 1.

Day 7 update

Both plants seemed to be doing well this afternoon, the bubbly is growing very well and is noticably bigger than the cherry bomb.

And the Cherry Bomb seemed to be ok this afternoon

But when I got up in the evening to get ready for work a sad sight greeted me....... :yoinks:

The Cherry Bomb looks like my Blue Mystic did just before she was all a-crawl with gnat larvae, so I suspect the little fuckers got to my CB as well.. :(

I immediately removed her from the grow space, and will se how she looks when I get home in the morning.. I'm not very optimistic though.. :(

The strange thing is that I've only seen the odd gnat now and then, but I guess it only takes a few. The bubbly seem to be ok so far, and I hope it continues like that for her.

I thought the gnats were mostly just a nuicance, but I'm really starting to hate these things..! :cuss:

So, I had to scrap the Cherry Bomb, she wilted completely, probably due to those damn gnats....

But I had another CB seed, so I started her and she came up yesterday.

The gnats seem to be mostly gone now, no new critters on my fly papers the last couple of days, but I still treated both plants with a home made gnat solution I found a recipe for somewhere here in the forums.

1 liter water, with 1 tbs olive oil, 1 tbs dish soap, 1 tbs white vinegar and 1/2 tbs hot sauce/tabasco.

Sprayed it all over the soil and drainage holes in the pots.

The Bubblelicious is growing well and doesn't seem to have been affected by gnats at all.

I have watered the bubbly once since she broke ground, on day 6, and *finally* the pot is starting to feel lighter again, so I'm considering watering her again tomorrow. I plan on giving her a mild nute solution when she's 21 days old, so I have to water soon if I want her to be dry again by then.

It feels a litte wrong to not give them any water at all for so long, but that is probably why I have stunted plants by over watering in the past......
