im an old school grower building a new tent and have been looking at cob lighting. I emailed cobshop. .net read some good things about them so I emailed the company asking actual power draw and coverage, this is where I get confused they told me actual power draw is only 60 watts! And covers a 20x20 inches. So for my humble new little tent I would use two of them and that would only draw 120watts. Which is amazing but would require for my needs to grow 1.5 grams a watt. My best grows with hps we’re 1 gram a watt, are these lights that efficient? If they are that’s jackpot for me!

People are pulling good number from those lights.
I did about half lb out of two plants in a 32x32x63 in tent. 3 x autocobs 3500k. 4000k nd i believe the other one is a 6500k not sure tho.
Mind you i killed a gsc auto forgot the breeder bjt she was 3ft tall was barely about to start flower and i just cut it down. I would easily gotten a qp out that gsc, so i would of been 3/4 of a pound or a bit more.

Thanks for the reply. My setup is a 2.5x2.5 I just wanted to note, I know it’s strain specific and grower skill I just wanted to be sure the equipment was capable.

That’s a dang nice grow!

have yet to uze cobz meself, but lotza peepz rave about em & will chime in, no doubt  ppp

450 w of DIY cobs in 16sq feet. I don't run 100% till flower, and have done 25oz under this setup.

I've got them wired so I can run 200w or 450, or dial both up or down. I used to run HPS 1k, quality is comparable, & I don't need additional cooling...

If I was doing it now, I'd look very hard at quantum boards, their the "next step" up from COB.

Nicely setup! Yeah lights are one of my last upgrades I have a couple weeks before mine hinders this slapped together grow I started. It’s been awhile since I’ve had to buy lights and the options seem endless now. Thanks for the advice I’ll look into those as well

Endless is an understatement. Not to mention, those that sell lights that are "marginal" for our task, trying to get in on the green rush.

Some really great choices out there, just gotta weed thru the junk. I really like the DIY, and from what I've seen, if you can plug two wires in and tighten a couple screws, hlg QB can get pretty reasonable. Am looking at this combo for a 2x2 start tent, 89$ for the board and heat sync, and $50ish for the driver, 145 bucks for 120w of QB isn't too bad.

Heya, i luv light talk!
So theres a lot of good choices, i know the autocobs get mad luv in afn, but as an alternative check out rapidled. You can get comparable performance and save some scratch as well.
I think rapidled has a 50-55 watt cob for 100 us, they also have a sexy 100w cob for like 200. More bang for the buck than the autocobs.
Quantum boards are rad as well, and for the same cost as 2 autocobs you could get yourself a real nice quantum board.
I got lucky and was able to snatch up a couple different lights, i run a hlg 150w quantum board, a mars hydro 150w qb, and the 65w autocob from the cobshop.
I like all 3, but id take a look around before ya drop the cash!

Timber has some decent prices on kits as well.

On my 9 cob setup, I sourced all the parts for the 200w 4 light build, added the 5 cobs a little later, that kit came from Timberled. Was pretty simple assembly.
