Ok so I’m looking to buy some cobs to replace my HPS I normally run 3x 600w hps. I wanted to replace them with the 600w migro (I know I could use 400 but extra light won’t be such a bad thing) but this light seems pricey so are there any other cobs that can match there performance or better them. For a slightly better price, informed opinions only please information will go towards my decision making, and new light arnt cheap thanks guys appreciate the help.

What is your budget and are you comfortable with diy? What size is your space?

My size is 1.2mx3.6m I can afford about £2000 and diy is meh the less the better as long as it isn’t over complicated it should be fine
Hmm. I think quantum boards would be your best option. Probably the QB132's in 3000k or 3500k. I'm thinking maybe 8 sets at $135 with 8 of those drivers wired in series with 14 or 18 gauge AWG solid core wire https://www.findchips.com/search/HLG-240H-C1750

I would check arrow.com digikey for pricing. If digikey is cheaper, talk to arrow for price matching and you'll get that plus 10% off your first order.

If you run those drivers at max you would be pulling 2000 watts and each panel would be adjustable.

I agree ☝️ with this ! Those migros are well made but way overpriced, you’ll get better light spread with the quantum boards . You can run them closer to the canopy for better penetration without cooking them .

Ok sounds great... I watched a tutorial build on them and the whole wiring knocked me a little I don’t know much about electrics and don’t feel suited wiring such expensive lights and potential burning my house down lol, that being said I have decided to buy QBs the exact model is “
Horticulture Lighting Group HLG-600H Quantum Board LED Kit V2” there $761 with free shipping to the uk. Including a option to come pre built and tested and dimmible. I will buy three of these unless you have a better recommendation that I don’t have to wire. Thanks for the help I always thought cobs where the most efficient

Same applies to you bro ohhh also I heard you have to supplement extra cal mag when using led, does that apply to these lights also ?

Wiring in series is super simple.

This is where I learned about wiring. I wired my own lights with help from his site and built my own rig. I highly suggest going the route I suggested for cost effectiveness and ease. I was worried I would burn the house down as well but the worst that happened was the lights wouldn't turn on. I'm bad with electrical work despite being a mechanic and my lights turned out fine.

Having multiple boards will have bettered canopy spread so with the 600 you'll have 12 boards however with the 135's you'll have 32 boards with a more efficient spread as technically with the drivers at max you would be pulling more wattage than the 600.

I don't think your choice is a bad choice but for the efficiency and cost you would be spending less than $1800 vs $2200+
