Grow Mediums Coco is hard to me because I can't get roots established... any EZ methods for a newb?

Thanks for the explanation man. What kind of light do you veg under if you don't mind me asking. I think if I fed .8 EC to mine they would burn, but I am in a pretty low light situation haha... Also I could be underestimating the ec they need.

I veg and flower under a 180w LED.. I thought that starting at .8ec on Day 1 would burn too, then blue taught me the errors of my ways lol I used to feed just water that's ph'd and after a few days they would be yellow.

My tap water has an EC of .55 so just a tiny bit of nutes bumps it to .8 If you want to be on the safe side, then start her at .7EC

Mine is sitting under a 180 w Topled and 200w Cfl and i fed her the First time on Day 16 with a 8th of the advices nute strenght.Before that only Root Juice 4ml on 2 L phd water. I reconized massive root growth to the times where i didnt use Root Juice so its not only the Feeding with Ec u also need to support the Root growth.

There isnt one formula that works across the board from my experience as each plant needs vary from another even with the same strain. Also ive tried to circumvent trial and error with no luck. Just keep your method consistant and make tweeks here and there and you ll get it. I went from soil to coco and made mistakes on my first run and still did quite well. Follow it through and you ll be suprised.

I switched to coco in air pots this round and they are growing like monsters. I used rapid rooters this time to germinate the seeds then just planted the rooter right in the coco. They are pretty awesome and cheap, almost too good really, they sprouted so fast they started to try and grow out of the Tupperware after about 1.5 days so I had to stake the plants up for a week. I think it would be hard to not germinate in these just set them in 1/4" of water in a dark Tupperware cracked open.

The coco I bought says to not ever water it with anything under 600ppm because it screws it up. This isn't bricks though it is prepped for growing already in big bags. I started with low nutes PH'd to 5.8 like hydro as Jayar said(opposed to no nutes) and it worked out great, so much bigger and faster than my last grow. Only issue I had was little flies in the coco that eat roots as babies then fly around in there an anger my blood. they killed one plant twice as it was a baby. I got some stuff called SM-90 for that though and it worked great just to put in the water when feeding.

Try watering with a spray bottle. The sprayed water should evaporate quicker than if you were to douse them. Remember that roots are going to search for water when the medium dries out.. Also, don't forget about a Cal-mag supplement with your coco. I started noticing slower growth and discoloration at about 3-4 weeks. After the additional Cal-Mag, the ladies hit hard. Most importantly, don't get discouraged. By choosing to use coco, you've actually gave yourself an advantage over other methods. Coco can be very forgiving, and when in doubt...flush it out. Look at every grow as a learning experience, as each grow should get better every time. We all have, and still do learn from our mistakes. Plus, the peeps on this site are very informative.

Simply said try Cocostar Coco with added Mycos its really worth the few pennys it costs more than normal Coco Bricks. I had Roots Coming out of 4 l Pods in less than 15 days.
