So I'm taking a trip to Denver in May. I'm highly excited about this for reasons I need not say. So, there are about 3838383 dispensaries in Denver. Anyone have any recommendations? Personal experiences with the new law? Info out of staters should take into consideration? I'm down to hear anything.

Good choice on vacation spots.
I came out here on vacation once.. Now I live here..
You won't get into any dispensaries. Those are strictly med patient only.
There are recreational stores (that are owned by dispensaries) that are open to the public.
Being an out of stater you'll be limited to 1/4-1/8th per visit.(each store is setting their own limits now)
No limit on edibles.
Expect to pay... Anywhere from 25-40% tax.
Go to Westword.com to see whats going on in the city life. Check out thecannabist.com for strain reviews and dispensary reviews.
Weedmaps is probably the best. You can review menus at each store.
My recommendation is hook up and get out to the mountains.
Have a great time!

That interesting. I didn't realize that recreational and medical were two separate operations. I know it isn't cheap but is the quality really that much better? Also, does the altitude mess up your body? I've read someone that alcohol hits a lot harder in CO? Does bud hit you harder? Do they have coffee shops like amsterdam? I gotta lot of questions if your down to inform me lol :Sharing One:

Not sure about elevation effects. No coffee shops that you can smoke in, yet. Most of the stuff I grow is much better that that you can buy, but they have most the strains. There are tour busses you can take too see all the grow shops, that might be way cool!

I just studied Ams or Acute Mountain sickness. It varies person to person and is still unknown exactly why. Not sure about your elevation, but 8,000 feet is generally some feel these effects. Try not to increase altitude more that 2,000 feet a day after initially getting in CO. If you do go to your dr tell him you are going on a high elevation vaca and say you were interested in diamox (what mountain climbers use) this is a diuretic though so watch out before you jump on a 200ft wide winged aluminum bird. Hope that helps give you a base knowledge. You might not even need the diamox, I studied briefly for higher elevations.

Hope it helps have a great safe trip!

It is the same product that you would get at the dispensary.
The law requires dispensaries to grow 70% of what they sell. The dispensary owners were the only people allowed to open rec stores for the first six months of the year. Vertical Integration is their term for this.
My assumption would be that they're getting rid of their subpar stock through the rec stores.
I'm not a "shopper". Being a grower I'm with Nam80232.
All the dispensaries are doing is running commercial size grows of seeds that are available from all the seed banks.
Some dispensaries will have their entire menu that is spitting image of a Attitude freebie pack a few months earlier.
There are exceptions to this of course. For most it's just a business.
I've been in a few and they run the full range. Rasta motive to GAP and Apple store.

Altitude can mess with you. It varies from person to person. Stay hydrated. Alcohol will hit you harder for a short time.
I think this all comes into play when you fly in opposed to driving in. As well, probably alot harder on those that live at sea level.

No coffee shops yet. The closest thing so far is a "club" called Club Ned. It just got approved in Nederland. Just inside the foothills near Boulder.

Most of the stuff I grow is much better that that you can buy
Amen to that brother!

Hello!

Here is a general guide FAQs about amendment 64. Hopefully it will answer some, if not all, of your questions you have about the marijuana side of things, when you come visit.

I'm not sure where you live, but if you are coming from somewhere that lives pretty close to elevation of sea level, and then you get to Colorado, you will definitely "feel" the effects and then you will probably need a few minutes(or more) to adjust to the change of altitude. That goes for anybody who is traveling from low to high altitude.

I'm also not sure about the impact of becoming more drunk, or high/stoned, but you will have a kind of a light headed feeling, because when you get higher up in elevation, the lower the oxygen is.
*Off Topic* If you live in higher elevated places, for instance Colorado, USA, it is more preferred to buy a forced induction vehicle(Turbo, Supercharger) only because it will compensate for the lack of oxygen(especially going up mountains).
*Off Topic Example* When I was stationed in Colorado for the army, my car (naturally aspirated, non-turbo, non-supercharger) it drove like a normal car, but when I was temporarily stationed in California, my car felt like it had a turbocharger on it and moved very fast.

Just make sure that the very first thing you do NOT do when you go to Colorado, is go up Pikes Peak, or any type of mountains. That is a big no no. The reason I say this, is because I was one of those idiots and did that, and I almost passed out....in a public bathroom. (>.<)

For further information, just read up on the link I have provided.

For your other immediate questions; Just like what Ronin said, that most of the dispensaries are for medical uses only, but there are a few they have opened up for recreational use (Definitely check weedmaps, search recreational); There are currently no places where you can smoke publicly (out in the open, in stores, bars, etc.). The only place is to smoke in private places (primarily homes).

I apologize for the long post, so here's a kitty playing with a ball/yarn. :kitty:

Smoking a fat 1 at the top of a mountain sounds good to me. I found an abandoned castle yesterday and was pissed that I had no ganj with me. Ganja holidays are the best. Enjoy dude
