Hey dudes, was researching what Bud Candy does (trying out the rest of the AN system) and I kept noticing some people saying that the taste was simply enhanced and sweetened, while other insisted that it provided a predictable and detectable flavor addition despite strain.
So, upon looking at the ingredients, I think I see why the later might be true. I notice they got the anthocyanins from berries and grapes. Since people that are reporting a 'characteristic' flavor are describing it as sweet and berry like, I'm wondering if these particular precursor sugars are easy and available for the plant to uptake, allowing the plant to do science and synthesize shit.
Moving on.
So I started looking for plants that express terpenes via roots and I found a weed in the mustard family that secretes terpenes via roots. From what I've seen of the rootless transfer mechanism (it works) and people's results with BC, I think companion planting some of this in a dwc bucket might significantly enhance aroma in the finished flowers. The weed(mustard) will secrete monoterpenes into the water, which will uptake to aid secondary metabolic pathways responsible for terp production on the flowers. Is anyone companion planting mj, and can you even companion plant in DWC? When I get my hands on the seeds, I intend to try this in a side by side, but I need to go photo on these in order to truly test this. I have to account for the phenotypical variation inherent in autos, or my results won't be valid.
Thoughts?
