Im curious to know how well cool tubes do to dissipate the heat from 400w and 600w hps bulbs. Where i live heat is an extreme issue. im running a 240w blackstar led light with a 4" ecoplus 160 cfm constant, with the exhaust vented into the attic crawlspace and the high temps in my DR90 tent are still in the mid to upper 80's for the days high.

I'm running a 400W HPS in an EasyCool reflector (supposed to be better at reflecting than the CoolTube) and my temps never get above 82. Before the new tent I was using a 240W Blackstar in a cabinet and struggled to keep the temps at 86 or below. The problem with the Blackstar (among several) is the little exhaust fans in it spread hot air in every direction. I'm much happier with the HPS and a closed ventilation of the light.

And I am in Texas where it is 106 today :(

i have a 600 watt cooltube hps in the dr100 1mx1mx2m with i think 250cfm 5" and temps are steady around 80f but im in a cool enough climate. i would say you wont be able to have a 600 watt in a dr 90 unless you get a lot more ventilation or ac. you might be fine though just if youre buying a new ballast etc id get a switchable model so you can dial it down if needed.
im not sure but the 400 watt might be alright.
insulated ducting is supposed to help too so inside the tent very little heat leaks out back into the tent through the tubing.

id buy a big fan and 6" tubing.

I feel you Ketchie, outside for the past 3 weeks have been 98-105 here constant. I was thinking of running a 8" cool tube with just a duct booster fan on it to exhaust the light, and still keep my 4" passive intake for the tent. Im getting alot of negative suction, so i was thinking about putting in a 4" booster pushing air in to the tent to maybe even the airflow out a bit. Temps inside the tent run 88 for the high, but alongside the 240 blackstar, i threw in a 150w Sun Systems HPS 2 weeks ago to boost some lumens. Girls seem to like the HPS a little more. Im still a newbie and learning the ropes, but im searching for a setup with the most light possible while still being able to control the tent environment with ease. And BTW i love my DR90 II tent!
