Curious of the best way to tell when to switch from metal halide to hps

I have heard a few different things on this subject some people have told me wait till all vertical growth has stopped to switch others say it will grow more under hps while flowering. Others have said switch when you see preflower anyone have any good advice on the best way to tell when to switch for and autoflower?

Use KAHBs?....lol. In all seriousness, I've never used a MH light. I've had a few nice HPS lights, and used those in the flower room, after the veg room with T5s. I presume you are growing autos, so hopefully you will get your answer. Cheers.

1 week after sex shows, usually between day 28 and 35.

Also an opportunity to trim/train and change nute regiment, if the girls slow down at least lots of work has been done and you are set for a good run in bloom.
